Hypocrisy: Season passes

Well, it's simple, most gamers think Bethesda is one of those faithful companies that act like good indie devs and support their fans, so they trust Bethesda Softworks to make good games, saying they're not like evil EA. if only they knew...

I don't think Bethesda is "evil." They may be assholes, but as Ross Scott once said, there's a fine line between being an asshole and being evil. EA is the walking definition of evil. Bethesda is fucking saintly by comparison.

Really the primary determining factor in how the games interested public seems to perceive whether you're evil or not is not simply "did you do the thing we don't like" but "did you do the thing we don't like often enough that enough people started noticing." Like people didn't seem to notice how formulaic most Ubisoft games are until they started churning out Assassin's Creed games every year.

EA just ends up as "evil" because they're much more prolific than a lot of other publishers.

By comparison. That's exactly why everyone supports Bethesda so much. Because no matter how poorly made their games turned out, they're still not EA.

I haven't really got anything against EA, to be honest. They partake in bad business by paying off reviewers, utilising day one pre-order DLCs, poor treatment of the development divisions they own, this is all true. But if they clean their act up and make good games, then I honestly am not the type to speak out against them.

Point two - there are at some times where I like formulaic games. For example, Far Cry and Just Cause. Far Cry is just taking out different layouts of outposts and towers again and again, and Just Cause is the same, but on a much larger scale with vastly more verticality. The point is, games that aren't fun when repeated should focus on other things. Dragon Age Inquistion was one of the games that didn't fit with this formula but was done with the formula anyways, and it got so boring that I never finished it despite the draw of the story.
