i guess it had to happen WOW movie coming 2008

Ok...I know it's for the money and all, but I think it's seriously lame.

A game is good due to player participation both individually and together. The movie won't let you control it or have others join in. The only reason to see it would be to enjoy the WoW universe in a short, animated story and no offense, but the world itself wasn't very interesting. The games sold due to excellent gameplay though I will admit the story was interesting, but it would never make for an RPG.

That's right, The Vault Dweller. They have made a few good/decent (and many bad, sadly) movies based on video games, but a MMO is entirely the wrong base for it. Most other games have a real plot and background and story (even if it's a weak one, there's one there). MMOs typically lack any sort of cohesive storyline or plot -- the only one I can think of that has one is Guild Wars.

Even if I didn't intensely dislike oWoW, I probably still wouldn't see this movie, though there's no doubt in my mind that the franchise name alone will guarantee movie sales.

Edit: Well, after reading the IMDB page, apparently it's a spinoff of Warcraft 2...in which case, I may go see it. The Warcraft games were good, and I cannot come close to saying the same for the MMO.
 
I loved WC1&2. Never got into WC3 the same way, and WoW isn't my cup of tea at all.

I think this would be a good idea if they focus the story on WC1 and or 2.

I think that the best format for this would be animated. I have a hard time seeing anything good come out of this as a motion-picture.
 
I think it has potential. At least a Warcraft movie would have tons of potential.

The motivating struggle beetwen man and orc. Or even deeper, a movie could tell the story of "Thrall", as in the book. Or the Dark Portal...mmm.
 
This will be a Coming out of the Closet movie for gamers everywhere! They will march the streets to the movie and many will die in the journey as player haters line the roofs and throw and dump all they can on the WoW addicts!
 
I hope this will be directed by Uwe Boll. It's about his artistic standard.

Seriously, why do you care?

There is no art to the game, not a flicker of integrity or innovation. Let "The Butcher" direct it, he couldn't make it worse.

And it will keep him away from the fallout license for a few months.
