I made a PipBoy3000

Cory Wilkerson

First time out of the vault
First time poster here,

I made a working PipBoy 3000 from the 3D printed model at Thingiverse, though heavily gutted and modded to fit a raspberry pi and a car backup monitor. It also plays songs from the Fallout soundtrack! The wheel dial is missing for several reasons, the main one being that I may go back and add a switch or dial myself for coding purposes once I have more experience. Powered by a Jackery Giant in my pocket. The basis of the paint job was old-pip-gets-fresh-coat. May make it more worn. Questions? Comments? Hate it? Too bad! Please leave me some criticism/ thoughts on this project.

I poured my heart and soul into this thing. Love the games.

Looks awesome! But the picture doesn't do it justice. Need more pics!

It looks amazing. I hope you're proud. How long did it take you, from conception to photo op?

It took 100+ hours of work, with all the research, schematics, circuitry planning, etc. Total cost was more than $250.00 for sure. In fact, I would be willing to possibly make another since I learned from my mistakes with this one. But here are more pictures:

Looks really good, but $250 is a lot, methinks.

What is that little keyboard thing w/ small screen in the last picture?

I agree, but on the other hand, I've personally wasted lot more money on way more useless stuff.
Plus, it's a nice hobby, and nicely done.

It's very pretty, but maybe a bit too silvery. Some different, matte color and maybe a worn-out look?

It's a FAVI wireless keyboard from Amazon. The little screen thingy is actually a miniature touchpad! Really helpful for navigating the menus and such with one hand.
