I played through Planescape Torment as far as Bataar and I've decided that the game has become too hard. So I want to use cheats to get through the rest of it. A god-mode cheat or an insta-kill cheat would suffice.

  2. It's not too hard. It's just you need to invest more time into completing the game. If you need help there are numerous corporate and independently written walkthroughs available online. And since you are Immortal in the game in the first place, a god mode cheat is pretty pointless and stupid.

If you want to play the game and enjoy it, you're not going to want any game value modifiers that screw with balance.

You missed the whole damn point of the thread!

And in response to your "You are already immortal" comment, yes that's true. But you still die/respawn and that's annoying. I was looking for a god-mode cheat that could work on the whole party so I could steamroll through the battles. But an insta-kill cheat (click=die) would probably be better for that purpose.

Why do you play video games? Just read a book or watch a movie if you don't want a challenge.

I don't think that argument really works with PS:T, since the gameplay revolves mostly around dialogue and the combat is boring.

Anyway, I don't know if such a cheat exists, so just remember that Morte is a great tank because of his damage reduction. Just make the baddies attack him while you heal him with Fall From Grace.
Provided you have those guys in your party of course.

Different people want different things from games, dude.

    Get over yourself.

Maybe he just wants to experience the story and background, without the combat? You can hardly fault someone for wanting to know more about PS:T...

True, but the game is seriously too easy.

I seem to recall there are no such cheats for Torment. But you might want to ask on the Spellhold Studios forums. If anyone would know, it would be one of the guys there.

I guess you never tried to beat it as a solo rogue.

Also, yeah, Morte is *the* tank in this game. With his damage reduction, high AC, decent HP pool and taunt ability, he can aggro and take a ton of damage while the rest of the party turn the baddies into molten puddles of delicious goo. He makes grinding Undersigil less of a chore.

Basically, god mode in Torment equals setting the combat difficulty to easiest, and giving The Nameless One a very high constitution score, sticking with the fighter class. +con tats, Tears of Salieru Dei, Ancient Scroll and bam, suddenly you regenerate health so fast nothing can kill you, as long as you're being careful in some of the more difficult encounters (dem fukken Glabrezu's, mang).

True, I never tried to beat it solo. I'm sure that would add to a bit of difficulty. Or I'll just be a solo mage and still kill everything.

But the godmode cheat is built in the game.

I heard there was a bug that resets your HP regen rate if your con is too high though.

Seriously, bator is a pain in the ass to play through, especially when you must find the exit portal and the muthafukin' dragons keep spawning from nowhere decimating your party.

Then he could just read a walkthrough or watch a play of it or just have someone tell him how it ends, since the OP is obviously not that interested in the game.

Plus, couldn't he just google for the info?

There's a difference between experiencing the story and background firsthand and just reading about it in a random walkthrough.

Huh. Really? I recently replayed Torment and had 25 con on my mage, no bug triggered or anything.

Then again, i was playing with Qwinn's Fixpack.

Games like this and Baldurs Gate 2 are just insurmountably hard compared to most video games. I don't know how anyone can progress through them without a bunch of different guides. So **** them!

And I never said I don't like challenge. Its just over the top in these games because you can run into a brick wall if you didn't do everything perfectly.

That's not really true. I never had a problem running through either game and I'm not the min-max type really.

It's more likely that you specifically have a hard time dealing with these types of games.

I didn't rush through the game, if that's what you're thinking. I actually did talk to lots of NPCs and do every quest that I could find. Its just that if I miss a particularly useful spell or companion despite my meticulous efforts, then the rest of the game becomes too hard and I have to back to a much earlier save game or start over. That pisses me the **** off!!!

And if you disagree with me, then explain how the **** you killed Trias???!!!

I kept reloading the save until he didn't cast Bladestorm.
Makatak is right, gameplay-wise Planescape: Torment is about as balanced and entertaining as Manos: The Hands of Fate is a well structured and executed film.

Look there, that will enable you to enjoy the "game" as it should be enjoyed.

finally, somebody has given me what I was looking for this whole time.

Unfortunately, it came a bit late. The game is uninstalled and the disc is broken into multiple pieces in the waste basket.

But in the mean time, I suppose I should ask: are there similar cheats for Baldur's Gate 2?
