I Wanna Shake Things Up A Bit

We're a pretty varied community, imo, but two things seem to be relatively constant: we like role-playing Games and we Hate Bethesda.

I created this thread to ask
  1. What are your favorite games that aren't Rpgs? And what is its genre?
  2. What are your least favorite Rpgs?
  3. What is your "favorite" Bethesda Game?
GO!

1. The new X-COM games (not including the Bureau for obvious reasons), the classic Thief games (Deadly Shadows somewhat included for Shalebridge Cradle), Hitman: Blood Money, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory [and more that would take too long to list out]

2. Final Fantasy XIII and its sequels (the Lightning Trilogy as a whole)

3. Morrowind (the first and last good Bethesda game)

EDIT: Oops... Just re-read the OP. I thought question 2 allowed only one RPG.
So I'll add Fallout 4 and Fable 3 to my answer to question 2 then.

In no particular order.

1.a)Bioshock 2
b)Distance (a racing game)
c)Besiege
d)Metro Games.

2.a)Fallout 3
b)Skyrim

3.I have only played Fallout 3 and Skyrim, so I say Skyrim. At least it lets you add a ton of mods that fix this game.

1. Good top down shooters like Binding Of Isaac or Hotline Miami or Nuclear Throne.

2. Diablo-clones.

3. Oblivion probably.

  1. :
    • Civilization and Civilization-like games (Turn Based Strategy)
    • Old Command and Conquer and Age of Empire games (Genre: Real Time Strategy)
    • Crusader Kings 2 (Genre: Paradox Grand Strategy)
  2. I can't remember... Sorry I have an awful memory... Does Final Fantasy X-2 count as a rpg? Does Fallout 4 counts as a RPG too?
  3. Morrowind without a doubt, although I enjoyed in the old days Daggerfall quite a lot too.

Hmm...

1. Half Life 2 (FPS), Postal 2 (FPS), Portal (Puzzle), Portal 2 (Puzzle), Rome Total War (RTS), Rayman Origins (Platformer), Final Fantasy VII (JRPG). There are others but those are the first that come to mind.

2. Fallout 3, Skyrim. Got bored playing Baldur's Gate but I'll probably give it another chance eventually.

3. Morrowind, although I do enjoy Oblivion as an entertaining so bad it's good experience.

  1. Pretty partial to RTS, especially Warzone 2100 and the earlier C&Cs. Also arena shooters, specifically UT/UT2004. Yeah, I seem to gravitate towards genres that no longer exist to any great degree. I'm old, leave me alone ;p
  2. Anything by Bethesda over the last 8 years.
  3. Fortunately I've only played three. Of those... dunno, Fallout 3 maybe? At least that game still had some semblance of RPG about it, unlike 4 or Skyrim.

1. Battlefield 4 (FPS) Metro Series (Post-Apoc FPS) Metal Gear Series (Stealth)

2. Bethesda Fallout

3. I only like TES from Beth

1. Hm, probably Quake 2. I'm a big sucker for FPS games.

2. Hard to tell. Fallout 3 or 4, maybe? They were pretty bad as RPGs, but they also did, hands down, provide mindless entertainment for a while.

3. Morrowind.

1: I don't have one lol. I'm a huge fan of strategy games if that counts.
2: I'd say fallout 4, but to move on form the hate, I'm just gonna put Pirate/Wizard 101.
3: Again, don't have one.

Booo! You don't like gta or hitman or Er... Some other franchise?

I like Saints Row. Never really played GTA or hitman.
You must play both. Hitman started on as a PC franchise but got console ports starting with 2. Point is they work great for both PC and console so go out and buy them. Its one of the greatest franchises ever imho. At least give blood money a shot.

1. Turnbased strategy games (Civilization, XCOM, etc), stealth games (like Hitman and Thief), point'n click adventures (Monkey Island, Larry, etc).
2. Modern action RPG's in general.
3. Morrowind.

1. Rome: Total War, Medieval 2: Total War, Crusader Kings II, Command & Conquer 3, X-Com and Civilization.

2. Dungeon crawlers that focus on power-gaming and loot gathering (AKA Blizzard RPGs) and JRPGs because I find them too linear and the characters too... what's the word? ...angsty and gay? I would include Fallout 4 in this list but I don't consider it an RPG (HAH!).

3. I'd like to be able to say Morrowind and be counted amongst the cool kids but, alas, I've never played it. I'd have to go with Skyrim. It's the only Elder Scrolls game I've experienced and so when Beth shat all over the earlier installments, I didn't have to go through the same crippling heartbreak I endured with Fallout.

I do enjoy Secret of Monkey Island come to think of it. I learned an important lesson from that game that has always stuck with me.

1. Deus Ex(the original), Half Life 1, System Shock 2(haven't finished it yet but it's shaping up to be one of my favorites), and some others.

2.Skyrim, Fallout 4, Fallout 3(from what I heard of it)

3. Morrowind

1. I've made it no lie that my all-time favourite game is Metal Gear Solid 3, I consider it to be the closest thing to a perfect game really.
Outside of that, I generally enjoy adventure games (for the sake of it, I'm putting Fable as an adventure game, I actually really enjoy the first two despite the massive flaws).
There's also Shenmue 2 which I really enjoy (I don't consider it an RPG).

2. Worst RPG?!
Hmmm, I would say Fallout 4, mostly because I feel insulted by it as both a Fallout and RPG Fan.
If we're going to include the Fable series, I'll say Fable 3 was pretty terrible, but at least I had some fun out of it. So I'll stick with Fallout 4 (if you can even call it an RPG).

3. I want to say Morrowind, but I've not played enough to really judge (although I do like it from a game design standpoint).
Out of the Bethesda games I've completed to story completion, Fallout 3 has to be the winner (I still consider it an alright game, just a bad Fallout game).

1.Gunstar Heroes, Contra: Shattered Soldier, Super Cyborg, Defcon, Alien Resurrection, FlatOut (1st), Half-Life, Quake 1, Unreal Tournament 1999/2007, Metro 2033, Blood. Mostly FPS and the genres closer to RPG or in which it's higher chance to get a good story or a racing games with driving more advanced than need for speed, action-packed run'n'gun games.
2.All of the JRPGs, Japanese killed RP in their trashed interpretetation of the genre, Icewind Dale-type of games, Fallout 4, Morrowind, Oblivion.
3.Fallout 3
