I want the Fallout 3 Suggestion Board Database

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-10-02 AT 05:59AM (GMT)[p]Is there ANY way in hell that I could have the entire database (presuming that's how it works) for the "Fallout 3 Suggestions and Ideas" board in here? I'd like to crawl through it and pull out any reasonable or decent ideas for Fan Made Fallout. Even if I can just get some good ideas from reading bad ideas it would be beneficial. However, the only way at the moment is to crawl through it online, open every thread, read it all (or save the web-page) find good stuff and move on to the next thread.

Is it possible, therefore, that I could just get the whole database downloaded from somewhere so that I can crawl through it on my home computer offline? Is there ANY chance of that happening?

A few things I'd like to point out:
1) I have no idea how this works. I presume it's a huge database.
2) It's huge isn't it?
3) I'm presuming I can download the database and actually read it somehow.

No, it's not a database, and you can either use the search function if you're looking for specifics or skim through it. It's quite easy to avoid some of the idiotic threads... The FOOL suggestions are usually in the Archived section.

It doesn't use MySQL, but I find it to be comfortable for a lot of people due to it's threading Usenet style of display.

Don't mean to jump in here, but I am assuming he's saying you can't.

Why not recurit some staff to log through them with you? Call them to arms! Ask around, and you should find enough crazy guys like you and me to do it. Just section it, print it out and away we go!!

If you have one of those programs that can grab every link from a single page to a file, you could do a search for " " (space) and obtain a list of every thread ever made in the history of this forum.

Well... If you want to... But I'd rather read it all myself. Just looking at some of it has given me some twisted ideas that I can play with for Fan Made Fallout. Although, I suppose if you wanted to go through, say half of the forum (while I go through the other half), open every link, save the web page and then compile them all in a zip file and put them up somewhere so that I can download them (don't even THINK about e-mailing me that much) then it might work. I'd then just download the zip file, put in in with the lot I saved and wallah! insta-forum all ready to read.

They can be quite annoying to server admins, as they go along spidering pages and can hammer a server rather nastily if done constantly. I've not used any, so I wouldn't know what to recommend.

Plus the server this runs on isn't exactly heaven's server. It's up, then down, then up...

Great, you're all enthusing me with confidence here. Hmmm.... Looks like I'll have to do it the manual way then.

Well, that was decidedly more painful than expected...

Okay, what's up with this? I go, file "save as" and save the page, THEN, after it gets half way throughsaving it says "Cannot save web page". AAARRRRGGGGH!!!! WTF???? I had to "edit with notepad" then save it al manually that way. SO far, I've only done page 16 of the forum, but it was painful. Why is this? What's wrong? What's the problem?

WHY IS IT TORMENTING ME??

Well... I got it. All 29.9 Megabytes of it is now sitting on my hard drive. Looks like I have some reading to do..... (Once I figure out how to get the damn thing off of my work comp, and onto my home comp...)
