Idea for Sniping

I have this idea for sniping, it will probably get me flamed to a crisp but what the hell.

What the idea is that there is an option so that when using guns that have a scope, like a sniper rifle, you could choose to have the regular FO mode of firing or you could choose a mod where you click the target and then it goes into a first person scope mode, like the games silent scope, and you then shoot the body part you wish to have damaged.

To make it harder than just point and click, it will shake depending on your gun skill and a stat, mabye agility or perception, and there could be a high level trait called steady hands that stops the shaking almost all together.

I hope this doesn't violate this forums rules, as it isn't exactly FPS Fallout, just a sort of FPS function when sniping.
 
Well this feature would only be for show wouldn't it, but quite frankly I don't like it.. I want the isometric view, but I'd like the option to turn the camera angel around..
 
nah it wouldent work. this is a RPG your accuracy is supose to be based on you characters skills not your skills
 
exactly and in turn based combat even with your scope shaking it wouldnt be that hard to time out an accurate shot with a crappy 'sniping' skill or whatever.
 
It wouldn't work, your characters skills shouldn't be based on your own skills.

As well as that, I'd rather have the team working on other things, and if you'd like an option like that, well, I suggest you go play an FPS...
 
Hm. Don't like it either, I guess. Sounds way too much like a FPS thing to me.

Then again... Maybe they should opt for something like the small scope thing in Commandos 2 when using a sniper rifle and such (never played the first Commandos, but it was probably used in there as well). Maybe it could be used instead of the targeted shot-screen. Never liked those screens anyway.
 
Only 10% of Americans eligible for COBRA insurance in 2006 used it, many because they were unable to afford to pay the full premium after their job loss.[16] While some employers may voluntarily help subsidize or fully cover the cost of COBRA insurance as part of a termination or exit package, it is more common for the ex-employee to cover the entire cost.[17] The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 as signed by President Barack Obama includes a 65% subsidy to employees for COBRA-enabled insurance for up to 9 months[18] after an involuntary termination (this has since been expanded to 15 months). An employee is eligible for this subsidy if the termination of employment was involuntary, the terminated employee has no other group sponsored health insurance option, and the terminated employee is otherwise eligible to enroll in COBRA. If the employee has an adjusted gross income in 2009 over $125,000 if filing as single ($250,000 if filing jointly), then the subsidy will be recaptured in a phased manner from the employee through the tax system. Termination of employment must have occurred between September 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009 (later expanded to February 28, 2010, expanded again to March 31, 2010, and then expanded again to June 2, 2010). Specific provisions and responsibilities may differ in the state specific mini-COBRA plans for employers with fewer than 20 employees throughout half of the previous calendar year. Those employees who are eligible for the ultimate benefits of this subsidy are referred to as Assistance Eligible Individuals (or AEIs). Employers subject to Federal COBRA are required to:[18] Notify terminated employees of their potential rights under ARRA by sending a series of notices Provide a method for qualified AEIs to enroll Pay the full amount of the premiums and seek reimbursement of the 65% subsidy by including it in the Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return (Form 941) This Act was signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. The nine-month subsidy period was also expanded to fifteen months.[19][20] On March 3, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Temporary Extension Act of 2010.[21] The Act extends COBRA subsidy eligibility to employees who lost their jobs due to no fault of their own between March 1 and 31, 2010.[22] In addition, employees who lost group health insurance due to reduced work hours on or after Sept. 1, 2008, followed by involuntary termination between March 2 and March 31, 2010, will now be eligible for the COBRA subsidy.[23] The Continuing Extension Act of 2010 extends premium assistance for COBRA benefits through May 31, 2010.[24] As of June 2010, an extension of COBRA's premium assistance has not materialized, and attempts by congressional members to include such provisions have been dropped. As of June 1, 2010, all newly unemployed workers must pay full coverage costs as determined by their respective plans.[25] This is due in part to conservative Democrats in Congress who have expressed concerns about treating some unemployed workers differently from others, such as people priced out of the private insurance market.[25] A number of Senate Democrats expressed concern about this situation and have introduced legislation to expand COBRA coverage to people who become unemployed through November 2010,[25] but such legislation did not pass in 2010.

I liked the targeted shot-screen, it was there in Fo1 and Fo2. In a way it's a "fallout-thing", you can't remove a fallout-thing from a fallout game.
Unless of course if you're intending to change everything instead of just the bad things, which the targeted shot-screen are not.
 
I don't like this idea, not only does it seem like a lot of extra work for a single weapon, it's also pretty much against the principles of a hardcore RPG like Fallout. Skill use should be determined byt the prowess of the character, not the player. Oh, and the targeted shot screen kicked ass.

However, one thing that limited the use of the sniper rifle in the previous games were that it's extreme range didn't really come into play, beyond giving an accuracy bonus. Perhaps there should be some way for characters with scoped weapons to acquire targets beyond the normal sight-range? Not sure how such a thing would work though.
 
Fallout3 MUST have some system for sniping. But, Gibberish, your idea is a little stupid. Azael said it. It would be nice to keep the isometric perspective, but still have an option to snipe an enemy from huge range. Now, in Fallout2 there's the hunting rifle with scope, but from close range you can't shoot a thing :cry: . So my idea is
that you will have choice to use or not to use the scope. While not using it your weapon will be normal rifle, but when you do, you can shoot at huge range with + 1 or 2 AP cost and have a little chance to hit someone too close to you.You will choose it as you choose burst mode for example. And while using the scope you target the wished part of the enemy. I REALLY want sniping in Fallout3 :wink:
