Ideas for Fallout 2 modding

I'm currently trying to get some stuff that might broke or need to be replaced in car.

Also i'm looking forward to get a good charger RT into a FRM.

This might take a while as i am zee noob. But i'm really excited with it so..

Whats the name of the existing cars FRMs?

Dunno if this is what you want but there are

CAR1.FRM
CAR2.FRM
CAR3.FRM <- wrecked scenary cars
CAR4.FRM
CAR5.FRM
CARSPEC1.FRM <- car we ride (front of course)
CARSPEC2.FRM <- car we remove the "turbo"
CARSPEC3.FRM <- dunno what this is

My plan isn't change the existing car FRM.
I'll try to add more :D

I'll probably try to get a new FRM for a taxi, the actual looks ugly :|. I remeber to see in old movies a chevy as a taxi, might take a look on that.

Atm trying to work on this one:

Kinda hard because i don't really know the angles and sizes to put it on game. Gotta keep trying.

Thanks, i'll try that tomorrow maybe. Implementing that image it's just the biggining of the intended for that car.

Another thing i don't know is what kind of trains where used before the war? Those old black "gas" trains or there were better ones already?

First of all you will need orthographic render.(Without perspective) I have angle setup that works almost perfectly. I'll post it as soon as I get to home.

Someone help me here.
Before the fall steam trains stoped being used and started to be diesel trains or the steam trains were still in use?

I think that trains used fusion powerplants just like cars.

3. A house you could buy or steal, that doesn't effect endings like the mob mansions in Reno, where you can store your stuff in chests and lockers or something.

I like this idea, but I'd like to have it included in a bigger idea. When you finish the game, you should be able to see the city that the Arroyo and V13 people build together, you'd have your own home then.

10. Just once, a rebuilt urban center; think the city random encounter from Fallout one, with the buildings rebuilt, the streets paved and painted, all the signs in place, if non functional, the sidewalks not crumbling. Might make a good new town. Maybe in Oakland.

This would fit with the previous idea.

To expound on the vault+arroyo new town, it would actually be fun to then go around to the surrounding tribes and small settlements to gather people to your new town. For exemple you might be able to convince Sulik's tribe that joining you in your new town would be better for their tribe.
Also must not forget, you should get a new perk: Village Elder ;)

When I hear these stories about trains, I start thinking that it would be neat to build a railroad in the wasteland between the cities. Sounds like the F3 design docs, so what if I'm stealing ideas ??? :)

I can't remember where I read this, but some people were talking about whether or not the BoS would take over Navarro. If you DID kill everyone, it would be neat if they did, and they could potentially give you extra quests. Its just a question (IMHO) of adding in Chris (I think thats the name of the BoS operative in SF) a script that checks if you killed everyone and adds a line saying "I've contacted BoS HQ, they are sending in a brigade to take over Navarro". Perhaps you could steal idea (lol again) from FO:Tactics and have the Navarro BoS be the sharing ones. You'd see them recruit people and give tech to the nearby settlements like the new Arroyo city.

Here are a few ideas for BOS, now that MIB kindly pointed me to where i should post whatever I can think of for a mod:
a. Quest giver for BOS, the guy in The Den. Why?Because the Frisco outpost was compromised and the scouts there turned to ashes. So the guy in The Den would take the leading role.
b. Instead of telling Mr. Wright about Siera Army Depot you inform the BOS scout from The Den. At the next stop there you should be able to see some changes(a squad of paladins as guards and a few scribes researching the base). that would also explain lots of the vehicles from Fallout tactics, and the vehicles that MIB wants to add.
c.you should have a quest with the Military base(aka Omega base or Mariposa Military base). After you eliminate Melchior Sr. you report to the guy in The Den. Next time you stop you see the same scenario that I've proposed for Sierra Army Depot. The Military base it's actually the official birth place of BOS.Maxson got out from there just to form BOS.So the interest would be major in reaquiring the base.
d.Add a Holodisk with the background information for BOS. The background is in the Fallout Bible.
e.Navarro must be an objective for the BOS. They could acquire quite a deal of new tech from there.Same thing as for SAD and MB will happen to Navarro
f.Another objective would be to recruit the doctor(the one that gives you the serum that melts lenny) from NCR for BOS.His knowledge in cybernetics would be a valuable resource for BOS.
g.Idea for another quest: bring Cyberdog and K9 to BOS for examination(they will dissassemble the pooches and study them, but they will return those intact to the player)
i.Bring an Advanced Power Armor Mk I and an Advanced Power Armor mark II for study.
j. Add some tech Holodisks that BOS would want from Poseidon Oil Rig
k.recruit either Doc Johnson or the doc from VC for BOS.
Well, that would be some crude ideas. Hope my mad raving didn't annoyed you too much.

i.Bring an Advanced Power Armor Mk I and an Advanced Power Armor mark II for study.

Would they then be able to replicate it?

k.recruit either Doc Johnson or the doc from VC for BOS.
they are not that interesting imo to be worth recruiting...

I'd like to add some stuff:
-what would the BoS think about having ghouls maintain a power plant? I'm sure the BoS would leap to get a chance to become a major power in the region by conquering that power plant in Gecko...
-For Navarro, I've said somewhere that they should only capture the place when the Enclave is down..because otherwise the BoS would get their butts kicked...
As I've also said somewhere, to be everywhere in the FO2 lands the BoS needs manpower and you need to see em recruit.
-The BoS can take over the raider base and set themselves up there too...

I really wish that there was more dept in SAD and MB. There's nothing to do in those maps :(

I want more quests! :(

Stormcrow, yes they should be able to replicate it, as the advanced power armors are based on the original PA. And they do know how to replicate the PA. So I don't see anything that would stop BOS replicating them after they've got their hands on a few samples. As for the two docs, the one in VC is a wee bit better(he found the cure for jet). Why BOS would need any of them? Medical knowledge. And the one in VC it's not only a good doc, but also a good researcher. Different XP points for whichever of them get to recruit. As for the Gecko Power Plant, it might be an attractive target, but Gecko is near VC. The BOS politics impose a prudent approach and a certain secrecy. Attacking Gecko that would attract undesired attention. With a possible formation of an alliance between NCR and VC, BOS would be put against a great number of troops. Let's not forget that NCR is the biggest community around(over 3k population, while BOS numbers are very low). We are talking about times when BOS was starting to covertly recruit to boost their numbers. So the BOS tactics would be to let someone else to do the job, but that would include only secluded locations. Another good target for BOS would be the Abbey, as the intended role for the Abbey was to hoard knowledge. This would give another purpose for the Abbey. The location is isolated enough for not attracting too much undesired attention. But if you want to go with the Gecko assault, allow me to link to that idea of a peaceful resolution. Let's say that you convince the ghouls to work for BOS, BOS would offer protection against VC and NCR, also providing the refined uranium for the Power Plant. The refined uranium would be taken from Broken Hills, which you should add peacefully or not so peacefully to the BOS.
Oh, yes the raiders. originally there were intended at least three major gangs: The Khans, The Jackals and The Vipers. Also if you check the files you find something about Rippers. All of those Raider gangs have an solid background. Unfortunately only The Khans made it in the game. If someone would manage to add them they could be linked to BOS recruiting drive. Of course, The Vipers, being utterly insane, would have to be captured somehow and indoctrinated. The Jackals and The Khans would be more open to a peaceful suggestion, for the Jackals to recruit them you would need a high speech and charisma check(8CH should be enough), while for Khans you should provoke their leader to a duel(remeber F1). If the player wins, he becomes the leader of the Khans and can decide if the Khans would join BOS or not. For Vipers, maybe some quest related to those Pit Vipers(to go in the Pit, defeat the 4 Pit Vipers and get out).

I don't like the indoctrination stuff...I'd rather have the "good" BoS from FO:Tactics... or well I guess it should be another player choice thing..good BoS or bad BoS...
Otherwise yeah I like the clan recruitement thing..except I'm not sure its wise to turn former criminals into guardians of the wasteland. Perhaps if you turned them into ... wasteland wanderers, or caravans,...something more neutral...not evil for starters... you should also be able to recruit small parties of enclave troops if you have enough speech...

As for the Docs...the VC one certainly won't leave...he other perhaps but I don't find him that awesome...BoS might be interested in Myron tho...once he's through boot camp ;)

What I'd like to see in future mods is a little more realism for fallout. In some of the towns, it doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, but the people are still standing in the same place. After a certain time, some of them should disappear until morning. Not a big thing, but it would make more sense.

Another idea would be to expand the world map. Many mods are being crammed into one map and it's beginning to look crowdered. Expanding the worldmap and possibly adding in the fallout 1 towns would be a nice idea. Then we could see what's happened to them over the years.

One final, slightly easier idea is more destroyed walls. After a nuclear disaster, there would be many more destroyed buildings but very few destroyed walls exist in the game. There needs to be at least a few for each wall type.

I´m totally agreening with you...

I think that mad_eye (Fallout: BGE programmer...) was developing some kind of day cycle + famine system and drought system. In point of scripting I have not so much experience, but he said that e.g. in 8 pm NPC will be able to find the nearest bed / mattress and fall asleep. For a wonder, it seems to be working...
And after player´s interruption, NPC was very rude, screaming a couple of red, vulgar floats. :)

Much like RAI huh? :?

This does not relate to this thread particularly but since this was inactive for a few months now why the hell not. I always wanted to make a Fallout 2 mode of an exaggerated version of my life. It takes place in the post apocalyptic mean streets of Brooklyn, where certain types of booze alter my HP and other stats including a “Common Sense” state which will deicide if you can do a certain quest or not. For example lets say I need to brake into a house in order to steal stuff I can sell to have money to go to a bar I would need a common sense state of -10 lets say 2 beers. Each time you gain a level (kill stuff, quests, drink special kind of booze) you can get your common sense down lower and lower allowing you to progress further into the game and your tolerance increase. The Game will have no real goal but to “Goon, Pump and Doing it early bird all day everyday ” pretty much just fell the text in with inside joke. So if anyone know how to mod and has surplus time let me know and I will tell you more about “THE DRUNKY MOD”

Something i like to see in a weapon upgrade. Nica for a Melee Character.

It really looks cool wenn wearing a Adv. Pwr. Armor and carrying a Spear. Reminds me of the Predator.

Maybe if create or modify weapons, make a Lightning Spear on micro cells or something like that. Or possible to upgrade to Lightning Spear. Damage like the Super Sledge, but 20% for "One Handed" Trait, only swing & trust, range: 2.
It would be even more for if the HtH Evade Perk was compatible with it :D

"The Spirit was willing, but the Spearheads were weak" like Hakunin say
