If your character had the option to settle down in a F2 town

I could probably choose Gecko, cmon guys, Harold is over there and EVERYONE loves Harold :P and after the reactor is fixed there is no problem with radiation, its a nice quiet town with a bunch of friendly ghouls (except for that Brain Rat, which i would wipe out).

Tough choice. I would say NCR, but something doesn't quite seem right about the place. Probably would end up in Broken Hills or Klamath.

Tough choice because I like a few settlements in the game.

I like Modoc but it's... kinda... full of shit.
I enjoy being in Broken Hills but this place's fate is sealed with running our of uranium ore and stuff.
I might settle in Vault 13 after all; or maybe in a bit refurbished Vault 15.

But definitely I would stick with Gecko for a while since I really really like this place.

[I would do anything in my power to convince Harold to get rid of this bleedin' plant from his head so he could avoid his stupid fate in Fallout 3... ]

It doesn't have to be. ^^

As for me, I'd pretty much stick to Modoc. being peaceful on one, and not pseudo-fascist on the other hand. Or Klamath, for that matter.
When it comes to old-age retirement, the NCR is my choice.

Which town in Fallout 2 will I settle in?

Most likely NCR due to it's stable government and relative safety since they have the largest police force and military in the known Fallout world. NCR is also the best hope of rebuilding civilization, with my knowledge and skills I can be part of making history.

And perhaps Vault City would be a good place to live (after repairing Gecko's power plant). Sure, I really hate Lynette but others people in the city such as Phyllis, Dr. Troy and McClure seems to be nice people that I can get alone with. Also, as the captain of the guard I can try to promote reforms to make the city more open to the outside world.

Occasionally I will travel to the Den (under the control of Becky) and New Reno for holiday.

Hm...I can see the tanker getting old fast. They keep saying the same ten lines over and over :p

New Reno as a made man of the winning family there (I prefer Wrights); a fedora, a Tommy Gun and a lot of respect, what's not to love?

Getting killed in a Brahmin cart drive-by?

If we're counting Fallout 3, Little Lamplight. There's no place I'd be safer than there, protected by guards not even a dozen enclave soldiers could hope to even barely scratch.

I'd shoot the dogs, train them to be child soldiers, and take over the wasteland with them.

If only F2, then definitely Klamath. Sure I'd probably regret it later, but that kind of simple, free life of a trapper is what I'd like to taste.

I would choose roaming as no one wanted me in their town. I did awful awful things to those kids with my grenades...

I would settle in Vault City. It's the safest place. Did you see those bloody turrets and walls? And unlike Vault 13 or any other you don't have to be locked up and never see a daylight

Concerning Vault City: it's stated that on at least one occasion, the raiders funded by Bishop had disabled at least one turret and had a clear shot into the city. As far as I could tell, the only reason they didn't have their way with VC is because Bishop didn't want them to (and, to be sure, it would've been a Pyrrhic victory at best.) Just sayin, VC != as safe as people think. I'd set up shop in the vault itself, or possibly V13 -- since it's always purged in vanilla FO, you get to establish your own Vault community!

Edit: Oh yes, and VC would be only if I had assassinated Lynette (without being suspected), or become Captain of the Guard -- which is ridiculously hard to do, by the way.

Not that hard, you just can't assassinate Westin for Bishop's family in New Reno and compliment Lynette (well, maybe that's hard).

BTW, weren't there more than one turret in VC, DGT?
