I'm a bit confused

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Who exactly gave the courier the platinum chip? Since he/she was heading north from Primm it would suggest Johnson Nash gave it to them (which seems most reasonable) but I've seen some claims Victor gave the chip to the courier. So which is it?

On a side note, if Victor had the chip in any capacity, why didn't House just command him to roll it up there himself? I mean a Mk I securitron is a tad bit better defended than a single courier with a 9mm.

I can't recall the specifics in the game, but I think this was well explained.

The reason for hiring couriers (6, right?) was to "hide in plain sight", if I'm not wrong. It would be harder to track down a relatively "standard" human being in a wasteland, 6 of them even more, than one (or several) shiny, clingy robots.

Sure, they may potentially defend themselves better, but still...

Potential spoilers for All Roads:

[spoiler:a91283f7a4]If I'm not wrong, Benny and the Khans 'almost' missed on capturing courier while he was near Goodsprings. They had some trouble on the way... [/spoiler:a91283f7a4]

You can ask House why he didn't hire a team of mercenaries to escort you or something like that and he will say something along the lines of a heavily armored caravan screams "this is important, attack this!"

However, Victor is able to roll all the way from Goodsprings through Nipton, Novac, and Boulder City all the way to The Strip and nobody seems to pay him any mind at all, so he must not stick out all THAT much.

I have seen Victor die on the road in harder dificulties, most commonly in Boulder Beach. You can actually ask him when you find him on the strip how is he still alive whe nyou saw him getting destroyed.

OK, anyway, Victor was just a side thought. Back to the original question, who gave the courier the job, victor or nash?

I think Victor means plural you, like you the couriers, through Nash, while Nash is the one who gives singular you your part of the work, which is carrying the real package.

but I've seen some claims Victor gave the chip to the courier.
I'm interested where you saw those claims?
Imho some guys working for House get chip from ruined city, then some other courier or just someone transported it to Nash, and then Victor appeared and talked with Nash, who gave chip to our main character.

Nash:
That cowboy robot had us hire six couriers. Each was carrying something a little different. A pair of dice, a chess piece, that kind of stuff.

Begs the question why Nash doesn't seem to know you from Adam when he just saw you like a week before. That and you can remember you work for the Mojave Express, but you don't seem to know him either (though brain trauma from a point blank shot to the head can lead to it being difficult to remember faces, so that can be explained.)

It is not stablished if they even had any relationship other than Guy that gives package and guy that deivers it and Nash is more concerned about the convicts taking over the town at that moment. Memory Loss didn't happen to the courier. And it wasn't a point blank shot.

For me, Nash directly gave chip to Courier.
He even remember hiring Ulysses, so I don't get why someone other should take part in our character hiring.
And I agree with Walpknut, at first when you meet him, he just doesn't give a fuck about some couriers.

IMO
Chip wasn't in Mojave. So there are possible to get contract from Nash, and take chip from somewhere west of Mojave.
For ulyss, if he take the job, then he have to go west to get the chip and deliver to Strip. but for the Courier, he doesn't have to go prim to get the job. he can get the job directly from where chip or other place.

I figured the Chip was somewhere in NCR territory; I can see the Mojave Express having offices outside the Mojave- it's just a name after all. They have a list of couriers to give jobs to, and Ulysses(who happened to be in the Mojave) was right next to the Courier (who wasn't). Courier gets hired to deliver the Chip, heads into the Mojave, doesn't know shit about anything, gets ambushed near Goodsprings.

I was nerdy enough to look at a map and see what towns along I-15 might make a good place for the Chip to be. I settled on Baker.

The chip was found in Sunnyvale, probably carried to Primm by another courier, who gave it to Nash, who then gave it to courier 6. Most likely it's true the only interaction Nash had with 6 was "sign here, ok here's your package, bye." and given the recent prison breakout and all that, yeah he could care less about you. Also, we don't know exactly how many couriers are employed by the Mojave Express in total, so they may all just blend together, save for Ulysses because he's well...kind of unforgettable.

But if Courier was in mojave, he would know what happened the road: Powderganger, Deathclaw and raider. but it doesn't seemed like Courier knows that. So he carry the chip from outside of mojave I guess?

He knows everything, but player not.

Joshua Sawyer: The Courier is not an amnesiac. Questions about the NCR, Legion, local goings on, etc. are present so the player does not stumble around without a clue. We can't assume any given player is familiar with these factions.

Also, the information we're given suggests the deathclaws and powder gangers were fairly recent, probably coming about between the time the courier got shot and the time they woke up. According to the timeline on wiki (not sure where they got this info) the courier was shot on oct 11 and woke up on the 19th so there's plenty of time for new stuff to crop up.

Who cares about actually contributing to the discussion? At least you can show us that you hate fallout 3 so we are forced to like you!

The Deathclaws are stated (as far as I remember) to have arrived 2 weeks prior, The Noise of the Quarry kept them away but when the Powder Gangers used the Dynamite from their forced work the Quarryworkers retreated to await NCR intervention but the now quiet area was overrun by Deathclaws.
