I'm looking for a Diablo 2 MOD that...

Makenshi

Ahoy, ye salty dogs!
I'm looking for a Diablo 2 MOD that allows me to keep the mercenaries (hirelings) that I hired even after hiring new ones; in other words, no hireling replacement, so that I can have all four hirelings with me at once: me, the rogue from 1st act, the lancer from 2nd act, the red wizard from 3rd act and the barbarian from 5th act.

I don't like Diablo 2 in multiplayer, so I was looking for this option, that looks like playing Fallout, as the hirelings act independent, just like FO's party members.

If anyone can help me, thanks.

I seriously doubt it's possible to even make a mod like that for D2.

Jesus Christ, someone actually answered!

Uh... why isn't it possible man? I've heard about a LOT of cool mod for D2 around, but none messing with hirelings, most are focused on skills and itens. Now, don't nuke my hopes saying that its not possible to specifically make hirelings "cumulative", for God's sake.

It's mainly due to the variables and how they are programmed into the core of the game, that makes it a very unlikely prospect that you'll find a mod like this. Diablo 2 only had a single slot for a hireling, so they might have programmed it accordingly.

It's true. Diablo 2 is hardcoded so you can only have one hireling at a time. There was some research shortly after LoD came out into modifying hirelings so they counted as creatures, with a cap of four on field at a time.
This was achieved by modifying unused skills in each of the classes to represent the "summoning" cap for hirelings and activating them in the background, but it was found that you couldn't resurrect the hirelings when they died and you couldn't give them any equipment.

In other words, it's not possible.

/tangent: I remember having a tough Lv.83 Rogue hireling with Eaglehorn fighting alongside my Lv.87 Windforce/Ethereal Titan's 75DR Amazon. Whenever the Rogue's lightning special activated, whatever was in the stream usually went down quick. Nice last-ditch defense against mobs that actually made it through the Guided/Multi/Freezing/LightFury barrage. And an excellent humiliation tool against stupid players (most of the population). Good times.

Okay, you nuked my hopes... I'll go back to Fallout Tactics...
