Ok, pretty major spoilers here, so don't read on if you don't want the game spoiled for you.

[spoiler:f8c8de97e6]Anyways, I found 'dad' by chance wandering the outskirts of tenpenny tower. I didn't need no help from nobody (I blew three dogs head off the instant I heard his voice). 'Dad' is in some old garage underneath inside of 'vault 112'. I used all the the dialogue options and eventually told him to 'fuck off' and then he started running off towards DC with a .32 pistol...[/spoiler:f8c8de97e6]

Wow.... Just wow, he's immortal jesus dad who goes punching raiders and getting knocked 'unconscious' by mini guns and flamethrower's 2000 times. Were they serious? This game is so riddled with design flaws it is nearly unplayable for me at this point.

To be fair, it gives you the option to meet up with him at a later time but he beckons you to join him, and guess what, I am at level 7 with mediocre equipment and he is a dumb-fuck walking bullseye who cannot die. I'm fed up with this atrocious game.

Well, immortal characters and poor choice&consequence system are what makes this game as far from the original FO experience as it could get.

What choices and consequence system? I have yet to see it. Oh wait, I get it, the whole consequence of Megaton. Very Che'. I am too tired right now to rant on about the horridness of immortal character. How my "father" can survive having a live grenade snuck into his lingerie is beyond my ability to make up a convincing arguement to assure myself of its semi-legitimacy.

Well, it's either that, or you can't complete the main quest.

Then again, maybe they wouldn't have had to do that if he was the slightest bit as smart as he supposed to be. Just running into everyone isn't really a good move when you have no weapon or armor, and the opponent is waiting for you with miniguns, rocket launchers or huge and sharp claws.

Actually, it's better that way, I can imagine the hasle it would be to try and bring him back alive through this trip.

What would be better, I think, is that if he died, he would have the info you needed on him corpse. They are plenty of ways to not break the quest without making character invincible.

    Ugh.
It's even worse than that immortal Overseer thing from Fo1 :/ .

Depends on who you want to put at work I guess. AI programmers ? Writers ? Quest scripters ?

It's so much easier to just set them invincible

Your right, it is waaay easier to make them unable to die. Doesn't mean it should be considered acceptable.

Thing is I didn't want to kill him, but they should have found a better way to handle his little trip across the wasteland than that, come on.... how about a sidequest to build a car or something and then have it teleport you to rivet city?
