Bethesda's blog pushed up another one. Again, the question asking if the person has played Fallout seems to have disappeared.
What would you say is your personal greatest game of all time?

Oblivion. I still find myself hooked on occasion. I start it up to look at a bug in GOTY and find myself sneak shotting bandits just to see their corpses tumble over ledges. If we let nostalgia factor in though, then its probably Contra 3 on the SNES. Back in the day I’d beat it in one man, starting on easy and working up through hard while using only the basic gun, just to kill time.
stage and all the crowd could do was jump up and down to the music.

What is your favorite type of game to play?

Open-ended RPGs. Surprising, no?

Is the master file currently up or down?

The master file is up. At least until Jon Paul checks in…
Link: Inside the Vault - Mike Lipari.

Whoa, I didn't see that coming. What a surprise.
No, really.

It's obvious to ME that this one never really played Fallout. Maybe Fallout Tactics...

When someone working on a Fallout sequel states one of his favorite games of all-time is Oblivion, I must say I get a bit nervous. It's a good game, but I can think of many, many far better games.

Luckily, he is just a programmer and most likely isn't making any design impacting decisions.

Hey, take it as an advertisement. He's with Bethesda, so he can't say another game from any other (better) team...

Besides, they need ads for that game, to make more people buy it :? They might even be running out of funds. :D

Judging by the number of Bethesda people that name a project of Todd's when asked about past games I'm guessing the Todd likes the ol' ego stroked.

To wit...

Eurogamer: With a background developing the Elder Scrolls games, but taking on an Interplay title, which legacy do you think Fallout 3 follows?

Emil Pagliarulo: Me personally, I really feel like we're making a game in the legacy of the Fallout games. It's so different than working with the Elder Scrolls stuff. It's first-person, and that's it. Actually it's interesting for me - it harkens back for me to some of the most enjoyable first-person games I've ever played, the Terminator games Bethesda made. Fallout 3 is Bethesda's triumphant return to gunplay games, after swords and sorcery for so long. For me it's about bringing back /that/ legacy.

I'm starting to see what you are talking about Emil.

Indeed, hire people that won't play FO1/2 even when working on its DIRECT SEQUAL, then, rather than getting these folks to play the first couple of games so they know what it's about the Fallout question is pulled. Yep way to inspire confidence in the Fallout fanbase.

If you're part of the project building the next installment of Fallout you should spend more time at work fluffing at the Golden Globes on you character 'Todd' and less time on Todd's golden globes at work fluffing his character.

As for the Fallout question, eesh, I saw Pete defending it in a thread on the Bethblog, said he didn't want it to get boring, which comes off as insincere at best...

“What would you say is your personal greatest game of all time?”

Oblivion.

Poor fallout fans ahahaha

Ouch! Glad to know that Bethesda actually cares about what they are doing...
