A press release available via Yahoo! sums up some points from Interplay's earnings and notes a full website should be launching soon.<blockquote>BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interplay Entertainment Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: IPLY - News) recently announced its earnings for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2007, and its plan for the company going forward.

Net revenues for the year ended December 31, 2007 were $6,001,000, an increase of 520 percent compared to the same period in 2006.

The Company reported net income of $5.86 million, or $.059 per basic share and $.057 per diluted share, compared to net income of $3.08 million, or $.032 per basic and diluted share, in the same period last year. The net income reported in the twelve-month period of this year was primarily the result of the recording of $5,750,000 in income from recognition of the sale of the "Fallout" intellectual property.

In addition to reporting the annual results, the company also pointed to its two-pronged growth strategy. First, management is working to secure funding for the development of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) based on the popular "Fallout" franchise. Interplay sold "Fallout" in 2007 while obtaining a license back, under certain conditions, to create and develop a "Fallout" MMOG.

At the same time, the company will leverage its portfolio of gaming properties by creating sequels to some of its most successful games, including Earthworm Jim, Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK.

The company has recently reinitiated its in-house game development studio, and is hiring game developers.

Interplay Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Herve Caen said, "2007 set the foundation for our growth strategy. Going forward, we have the vision, unique intellectual property, and low debt and operational costs to help us pursue financing for our various projects. Our new Website will streamline our ability to communicate development progress with the public, share brand information with the fans and support our customers."

Well, the bastard sure seems to have done it, he either got damn lucky, or he's on his last leg and going for the end of the race.

He still needs to raise $24 million more (and a full team?) for his mmorpg, or else he will loose the liscence to bethesda, right?

Bah, I smell trouble for Interplay already. Herve doesn't seem to realize that he owns a small indie company now, not the old I-Play PC workhorse of the 90's. Neither does he realize the cost of development for current generation software. If he was smart, or not an evil bastard he would devote most of his resources to getting a decent MDK title out for next-gen. That is the only gold he has in his coffers at this point, and he wants to try and play with the big boys at Blizzard. What an idiot.

Yeah, Herve seems intent on the megalomaniac FOOL project. While the project is interesting for us, obviously, both because it's Fallout and because of Jason D. Anderson, nobody really has any reason to label it anything other than vapourware for now.

also, lol.

FOOL

I have a feeling Bethsoft is already working on a FOOL of their own anyway. I just don't believe that Herve's is never going to get off the ground.

I don't recall Bethesda ever doing any MMO.....why would they make FOOL?

Ah, anyway, Interplay is as green at it as they.

You mean ZeniMax Online, the ZeniMax MMO branch? Because Bethesda doesn't do online games.

ZO is currently still gathering people and means and starting up their first project. Since they don't have the Fallout MMO license yet, though they might well be assuming they'll get it, I think a more educated guess is that they're working on TES Online now

I agree 100%

It really seems a whole flock of developers and out-house studios are trying to develope titles they have no experience with whatsoever. I really think the power of the hype machine has grown massively out of control. It is like a singular godlike entity now. A blackhole fumbling lathargicly around the gaming universe devouring any sence of logic or decency left in the market. At this point, Nintendo could announce that they are making a "Massively Multiplayer Online Smoking Simulator" for the Wii, featuring Sean Connery and the old Earthbound licence. You can play as ness trying to eat out the tar of Sean Connery's lungs using the Wii remote for Wii points to spend on different BDSM material bought from a MMO market of psychotic bastards.

And somehow the hype machine would sell it.

heh it maybe sound like a joke but who know's i just dream at Fallout like a big shot in the mmo market ..as for now il stick with Aoc that will realy beat wow when he will come out.
