ION Storm closes doors

errm.. didnt ION Storm do the RTS game.. like clouds over nimbus or something?

As I said before: Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3

You implied plural, and before Daikatana. I count one, and that one only counts if you were either easily amused or were too poor and ignorant to find Total Annihiliation.

i had it and it rocked... very fun game-play. lots of inventive ideas in that game.

No, it was a barely passable RTS with a load of flaws, most notably ION Storm's wont to copy moronic and antiquidated building schemes from Red Alert and use a few other token items to avoid obvious lawsuit material. About the best thing about it was...well, something.

actually i stayed away from total annihiliation because i tried the demo and found it quite lacking compared to dark reign 1. AI was way too stupid for me.

load of flaws? i never managed to find any... the internet play sucked though. copy of red alert? the whole theme was different, the mechanics were different, the restrictions were different, the upgrades were different.... how exactly did it copy red alert?

Considering that you're making AI judgements based from a DEMO, I would have to say that the stupid one was not the AI.

It is called "observation".

the internet play sucked though.

DUH! Care to grasp why it is considered poor, then, if the multiplayer was ass? Only a few play the single-player exclusively, and where an RTS is measured in longevity is in the multiplayer aspect. TA did this well and is still going strong; RA and C&C had this up to a point until the new titles became mere rehashes with a few more units tacked in.

There wasn't much differing between the sides except for a few token units? People became spoiled with the uniqueness of each side being more than just the interface change, ever since StarCraft and TA.

Speaking of observation, I also notice that you've tried to fully steer the discussion from your earlier claims involving ION Storm's work before Daikatana. The one title they had, an uninspired RTS, fails to really qualify in that regards.
