The Q3 report from IPLY has arrived, here's a snibblet:
For the third quarter ended September 30, 2004, Interplay reported a net loss of $1.5 million, or $.02 per basic and diluted common share, compared to a net loss of $2.2 million, or $.02 per basic and diluted common share, in the same period last year. Net revenues for the third quarter 2004 were $.9 million versus $4.7 million in the same period a year ago, a decrease of 80%. The decrease in net revenues was mainly a result of delivering zero new title gold masters in North America in the 2004 period compared to delivering one new title gold master in North America in the 2003 period. Additionally the Company delivered zero new title gold masters internationally in the 2004 period as compared to releasing three titles, two of which had previously been released only in North America, in Europe in the 2003 period.

Additionally, the Company announced it has signed an agreement with Majorem, an Israeli game developer, to exclusively publish and distribute "Ballerium," the massively multiplayer online strategy game. The game, currently in beta testing, is expected to be commercially launched by summer 2005.
And there's more where that came from...

See? What'd I tell you? Ballerium = Fallout Online!

These Israelis are really desperate...

Never heard of persistent MMORTS's before? That's because there aren't any around. Yet. Not even those who claim to be such, as we will hereby explain:

Chances are, if someone does make a MMORTS, it will be by those who have a better clue than these people. Oh, wait, people have been developing MMORTS games for some time, only this one looks like pure shit from the art to the game concepts.

Ballerium is developed with an enhanced persistency capability, which means that not only is the world always on, but also that players who wish their in-game units to remain continuously active in the world, carrying the user's previously given commands, can do so.

No, that is the definition of a persistent world to begin with. Or, I suppose these asswipes just think cloning Warcraft into a MMOG server will have any long-term interest for people, especially when their "seven races" look quite stock, though given about five minute's worth of writing talent behind their explanation.

Now, if you couldn't decide if the game was shit concept to begin with (maybe it could be the uninspired in-game art), check out another Massively Multiplayer Online Real-Time Strategy game, one that was in development before these Bally kiddies tried to lie about their game and managed to fool Herve, had a lot more to it, and promised far better. So people are supposed to like this Ballshit after the cancellation of a game that promised to be a lot more imaginative and looked a hell of a lot better? That's like a consolation prize of a vasectomy. Sovereign should have been released; this one is hype, lies, and frankly looks like it's a train wreck waiting to happen. With Herve at the publisher wheel, this should be most entertaining. Of course I can just see Herve going around and trying to find pages like these and e-mailing them out of desperation.

Given that the forums have Mar. 13 2003 as their initial post about everyone ignoring it at E3 except for a retarded Frenchman, it seems they, like Herve, have no clue about the market. That could be the only explanation as to why anyone would be so amazingly stupid and sign a deal with him. Maybe we could get the other hype trainwreck of Conflict-OMEGA signed up by Herve as well.

Of course, I could also point out that Shattered Galaxy has been around before 2001, released on 08/21/2001, and it is up to v1.60. The graphics also look more imaginative than the promotional screenshots for the next over-hyped fugly step-child of Herve. Sovereign also looked and soundedFAR more promising than this game, from the design concepts, to screenshots that look a bit better than "Updated City 3". Nice rippled ground effect on the street, numbskulls. That makes it look like ass. Oh, and Sovereign was developed around 200-2003 and promised more. Time to catch up to what the market expects, kids.

Just like Herve is a couple of years too late to cash in on the MMOG trend like the third-rate French businessman he is, these morons are a bit late with their fraudulent claims. Is it any wonder their forums are Ballsically dead when they fill their beta test roster NOT from qualified individuals, but rather whom could spam the fastest and within a certain number like a radio disc jockey? Yup, another game that treats the beta testing like a PR kit rather than actual beta testing. Oh, and later, after beta, they plan to add in support for social groups expected to slug through this crap, clans and governments.

So, let's recap here. Shit development methods, shit for gameplay (oh, so it's ALL combat now...), the design concepts are so dull behind them without much tying them together other than they fight (the about page has more hype and self-fellating than actual description about the game, unless you think that should be nothing more than a descript of buildings and units like these brain-doners), the art design looks like they need someone other than a programmer creating placeholders to work in art design, it looks like they were dropped by their last publisher after a year (7th Day Entertainment, a publisher based in Taiwan), and this title has every indication of being a title typical of Herve's poor integrity around the video game industry.

Remember folks, it's based on their revolutionary OPIUM technology! :D

That Ballarium thingy looks suspiciously like Warcraft3..

I can see it now..
"Latest Interplay Lawsuit over publishing a game using another software developers graphics engine without permision, in an attempt to cut costs" ;)

"Going to tank"?

I'm still wondering where the hell the people developing the game expect to get any money, especially long-term, since Interplay hasn't even been able to support themselves. Only morons would sign into such a deal without fully knowing the status of the publisher they are signing under. Or people as desperate for someone to fund an over-hyped turd with little real background information behind it, as these people are.

Of course, I love how they pick the testers at random from system specs and people who can quickly spam into designated threads, not from qualified and experienced people, who would treat the beta as something other than a free game.

With Interplay in the shitter, how the hell do these people expect to really QA a MMOG by those shitty beta testing standards? Speaking of betas, they really aren't in a beta state, because the game isn't anywhere near complete or remotely marketable to people who have a point to their existence or who have played MMOGs or RTS games that have offered a lot more entertainment value. Beta is where graphics are finalized, as is everything else, but it appears like they are still in core development, which would make it alpha.

Speaking of beta testers, most of them are still creaming their jeans like ignorant fools over this, and most of them think Interplay is great. Yeah...clueless people performing QA on a game that is developed by people who can't stop sucking themselves off in their about section for five seconds to give a general synopsis of the game (other than it is a MMORTS - OMFGBUYBUYBUY!!), published by morons so far in debt they have no hope of publishing a single-player game much less cover the costs of MMOG development.

Sit back and watch, folks. This has the modern Interplay train wreck label all over it.

UPDATE:

A Ballerium dev signs on to say...absolutely nothing except to suck themselves off, again.

Eristrad and others,

No need to patronise, we all read the same news you do, and we all know Interplay is in a difficult position. In fact, Herve says so himself.

Reading a little backwards on Ballerium if you did, you could see that the project was put away for being in a difficult position as well.

Wether this partnership is going to succeed or not - time will tell.
All of us - well most of us, exclusing you I guess - really hope that it would. For even in its current state Ballerium - not a perfect game - IS fun to play (haven't tried it yourself, have you?).

And that's what's important about games we like to play, isn't it?

So... That answers nothing about the financial concerns, or where these chuckleheads are going to suddenly pull money from their ass to make this game actually reach the market. Oh, but it's fun to play, supposedly. I know people who still think Diablo 2 is fun and they've been playing it since release. That still doesn't mean that this title has any hope of seeing the light of day or even be remotely marketable.

And this is after editing the post of someone who pointed out valid community concerns, because they posted links to where people pointed out valid concerns of the title when the developers are going to pet their ego that hard. Well, looks like this spineless "info" person is Herve's new Chuck Cuevas.

Uh, guys?

[List of partially inflamatory links stating this new development is not realistic or has got no chance]

I am happy to see you found a publisher again.

Why did you pick the bankrupt one with nobody working at it because they can't afford to pay their own employees?

How do you expect to get development money from a publisher that couldn't stay in their previous office because they weren't able to pay the rent or pay their employees?

This might seem like an impressive stock increase since the announcement... (If you count +$0.001 impressive.)

...until you go to the 5 year ticker. (It used to be higher than that when Interplay still made good games.)

Unless Herve is hocking his car I doubt you will see much money. At least not the amount a MMO game needs to start. Just a fair warning before someone craps themselves out of shock.

Best of luck. :/

If anyone saw the removed links before they were edited by those who want people to stupidly follow this title like sheep, please send them to me.

Oh Lord...

That is the worst story Ive EVER read! Ive played Starcraft Use Map Settings RPG's with better, more unique plot's and environments...

I saw the title and thought the game might be about Ballerina's...

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Nah, that would be innovative.
As a matter of fact I think it might be a better game and probably even sell better if it actually WAS about ballerinas.

Oops, that was the "crash and burn" post. Hmmm, ah, here is the post with some common sense about Majorem's legal position and how they just fucked themselves over in case they do catch the eye of a publisher that has BOTH interest and money/ability to publish the game.

We're still wondering how Majorem expects to publish this thing, and yet the clannie trash on that forum still mindlessly defends the game in the split thread (so nobody gets any reality mixed into their vaporware circle-jerk in the news, causing the three people who do care about this game to commit suicide).

That wasn't the entire point, morons. I suppose we'll have to wait until they've eventually passed the 6th grade for them to have some hopeful understanding and reading comprehension, because these clannies are even more hilarious than the clannies in denial that FOT attracted. Iceman (I'm not going to do the inbred acid caps bullshit), one of their moderators, even has this to say:

and if you didn't know, the game looked as it is before Wc3's demo was even released so calling it a rip off is simply wrong, the game desgin is much earlier to Wc3.

So it has looked like dated ass for much longer than WC3?

Calling it a WC3 rip-off is far too kind, then. WC3 looks far better than the unimaginative shit I've seen pass for Ballerium's graphics. At least the landscape has some care to it, and they managed to do that when Ballerium has apparently had a couple of more years since WC3 to improve it, and yet this turd has managed to go on for another couple of years past that with no improvement, and they want to say it's in a BETA state?!

A perfect title indeed, for an inexperienced developer who signs onto a publisher with no money, and the fans are mostly retarded clannies.

Interplay's new slogan: By Morons, For Morons.

I am so very happy for you. I'm glad to see an investor as dominant in the industry as Interplay show interest in Ballerium, for i believe it says a lot about the project. I hope from now on things will take a turn to the best.

Best Wishes, and happy boxing day

LOL! Thoseguys aree funny.

EDIT-good onw silencer.

Yeah, It's good to see you too...

Does Ballerium bring "weapons-grade ballonium" reference to anyone but me?
