Never heard of persistent MMORTS's before? That's because there aren't any around. Yet. Not even those who claim to be such, as we will hereby explain:
Chances are, if someone does make a MMORTS, it will be by those who have a better clue than these people. Oh, wait, people have been developing MMORTS games for some time, only this one looks like pure shit from the art to the game concepts.
Ballerium is developed with an enhanced persistency capability, which means that not only is the world always on, but also that players who wish their in-game units to remain continuously active in the world, carrying the user's previously given commands, can do so.
No, that is the definition of a persistent world to begin with. Or, I suppose these asswipes just think cloning Warcraft into a MMOG server will have any long-term interest for people, especially when their "seven races" look quite stock, though given about five minute's worth of writing talent behind their explanation.
Now, if you couldn't decide if the game was shit concept to begin with (maybe it could be the uninspired in-game art),
check out another Massively Multiplayer Online Real-Time Strategy game, one that was in development before these Bally kiddies tried to lie about their game and managed to fool Herve, had a lot more to it, and promised far better. So people are supposed to like this Ballshit after the cancellation of a game that promised to be a lot more imaginative and looked a hell of a lot better? That's like a consolation prize of a vasectomy. Sovereign should have been released; this one is hype, lies, and frankly looks like it's a train wreck waiting to happen. With Herve at the publisher wheel, this should be most entertaining. Of course I can just see Herve going around and trying to find pages like
these and e-mailing them out of desperation.
Given that the forums have Mar. 13 2003 as their initial post about everyone ignoring it at E3 except for a retarded Frenchman, it seems they, like Herve, have no clue about the market. That could be the only explanation as to why anyone would be so amazingly stupid and sign a deal with him. Maybe we could get the other hype trainwreck of Conflict-OMEGA signed up by Herve as well.
Of course, I could also point out that Shattered Galaxy has been around before 2001, released on 08/21/2001, and it is up to v1.60. The graphics also look more imaginative than the promotional screenshots for the next over-hyped fugly step-child of Herve. Sovereign also looked and soundedFAR more promising than this game, from the design concepts, to screenshots that look a bit better than "
Updated City 3". Nice rippled ground effect on the street, numbskulls. That makes it look like ass. Oh, and Sovereign was developed around 200-2003 and promised more. Time to catch up to what the market expects, kids.
Just like Herve is a couple of years too late to cash in on the MMOG trend like the third-rate French businessman he is, these morons are a bit late with their fraudulent claims. Is it any wonder their forums are Ballsically dead when they fill their beta test roster NOT from qualified individuals,
but rather whom could spam the fastest and within a certain number like a radio disc jockey? Yup, another game that treats the beta testing like a PR kit rather than actual beta testing. Oh, and later, after beta, they plan to add in support for social groups expected to slug through this crap, clans and governments.
So, let's recap here. Shit development methods, shit for gameplay (oh, so it's ALL combat now...), the design concepts are so dull behind them without much tying them together other than they fight (the about page has more hype and self-fellating than actual description about the game, unless you think that should be nothing more than a descript of buildings and units like these brain-doners), the art design looks like they need someone other than a programmer creating placeholders to work in art design,
it looks like they were dropped by their last publisher after a year (7th Day Entertainment, a publisher based in Taiwan), and this title has every indication of being a title typical of Herve's poor integrity around the video game industry.
Remember folks, it's based on their revolutionary OPIUM technology!
