Is Maryland/DC rocky like that?

I went to DC for vacation a couple years ago, and no, it's not that rocky. Hilly, yes. Although, I spent most of my time inside the city. The one thing about Fallout 3 is they got the subway right.

I did go to Arlington National Cemetery (which is in Virginia), and it is nothing like in the game. It's freakin' HUGE. And hilly, real hilly, my out of shape body almost died trying to get up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The whole game is just a mini-DC, I know.

From what I know, the DC Area is actually swampland, ins't?
Nope, that's an urban legend. Majority of it is farmland and tree-covered hills.

As for the hillbilly thing: Sure. A hillbilly is someone who lives in or around rural Appalachia or The Ozarks. Mountain folk.

Hooray for Wikipedia!

I live in Maryland and no its not that hilly or rocky. yes there are some mountains, maybe some hills. There are some rocks, but not all over the place like in that game.

What you are seeing is post apocalyptic wasteland design. Its supposed to look like crap, its been destroyed. Everything, even the ground, dirt and grass was nuked.

No maryland doesnt look like a desert. Also Bethesda is located in Bethesda MD. Oddly enough they didnt spend much time on the name. Lets just name ourselves where we are loacted.

I live here in Virginia, like, minutes away from the Capital Wasteland. It isn't anywhere near that rocky, no, but for the game's purposes it's fine.

Also there aren't farms that close to the city, and neighborhoods would be sprawling suburbs that cover a lot more of the map.

Nope, and I was sad to notice that my office building, located right outside of Dupont Circle was not in the game, even though it was built before 1950. Meh.
