I like Conan best, I think. He's more energetic, he's wittier and his expressions are often priceless. He's also got that Jewish drummer on his show and the Jewish drummer knows Bruce Springsteen (=teh boss).
Jay Leno looks like a doctor or a lawyer. Plus, his speech deficiency kinda sorta gets on my nerves after five minutes.
 
I have no idea who either of them is.

What channel do you get these guys on, Alec? VT4 or something?

No, I watch TV - unfortunately it's more the artsy-fartsy gay stuff I like. Like, modern dance and shit.

So I guess I'm missing out on the whole stand-up comedian scene. Still, I wonder how Alec knows these guys in the first place - I really have no idea what channel they're aired on over here...

Jeez. CNBC, of course. Leno is on at around 23.00 and Conan at around 23.45. And they're not really stand-up comedians. They each have a talkshow. Anyway, they're better than 'modern dance and shit.' And a lot less gay.
 
Well, to be fair, Leno was a standup comedian. Conan on the other hand made his career writing for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons during its golden years.
 
Jay Leno's act is pretty pathetic sometimes, becasue it's basically one joke/ funny news story after the other, with almost no variation. And he always says "Eh, what else? Hmm..." which gets old very fast.

Oh, and he really should stop making jokes about Kevin Eubanks being a pot smoker. Kevin's laughing, but no one else is.

Conan, on the other hand, has a much more varied stand-up act and most of the time his 'feature' is pretty good. I sepecially like the Children's Drawings feature he does from time to time.

Conan gets my vote.
 
Well, I've not seen either of them bar a few edited highlights, which were completely unfunny. So, on first impressions: I'd go with that "black screen" channel that most people fail to realise exists.

EDIT - Typo. Damn drunken fingerses.
 
Conan is definately better.

I love Jay's headlines and Jaywalking though, and hate Conan's celebrity faces.

but come on, who can't love a guy who plays several weeks worth of Walker, Texas Ranger clips?
 
The best Walker clip by far was when that guy let the kid fall off of a book ladder by acting like he was going to catch him, and then stepping back to let the kid hit the floor.
 
Conan, without a doubt.

The Walker, Texas Ranger clips pwn. As well as "In the Year 2000."

Conan also has the best band. Max Weinberg is a brilliant drummer and a really funny guy (plus, he plays with The Boss).
 
The problem with Leno is that he hardly interacts with the audience at all. He does a joke, pauses for the audience reaction, and moves on. Conan uses the audience reaction and riffs on it. He's more engaged with the crowd. He's a better interviewer, too.
