The Brotherhood of Steel. Xenophobia keeps them safe from everyone else, their skill with heavy armour (power armour to be exact) and energy-based tech, along with their curiosity for technology, will keep them at their toes no matter how hostile and alien the environment.

Research would be put into everything - dwarven tech, the basic composition of magic, alchemical properties of every single plant, biology of every animal, strengths and weaknesses of every weapon, every armour, every faction that would be a threat to the Brotherhood (not to be confused with the Dark Brotherhood).

aaaaand again we come up with something better than Bethesda could in a million years.
