[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Mar-06-01 AT 02:31AM (GMT)[p]I recently spilled soda on my $60 dollar Microsoft keyboard and now pressing certain keys also causes others to be typed. For example, pressing e causes an extra 3 to appear and vice-versa. Anyone knows what the problem is or how it can be fixed aside from getting a new keyboard?

Well, I dunno about those new-fangled keyboàrds, but if such thing happened to mine, I'd open it, take out everything I could (don't touch the circuits), wash it and then dry and put it back. There're usually pellicles with contacts, that's what I'd wash first.

Was it Pepsi/Coca Cola?

I'c call tech support inmy office reporting a keyboard problem.
And when the guy comes in i would slipp him a ten and tell him that i don't know what might have happened and that if would be to get arond one of those wireless mouse and keyboard and possibly a flat screen monitor i'd be real gratefull.

Ok so it cost my a bit greasing the guys a tech support but i've got the best equipement among all the bosses in my office. They just say that the equipement is loaned on a trial base and that my PC is the only one with the compatibility.

bbbbwwwaaaahahahaha.

RE: Yeah

Then you are doomed, my friend. If it was 7-Up, you could just wash it, but Coka Cola... Throw away your keyboard, you can't fix it.

RE: Yeah

No, you can't, because artificial flavors used in Pepsi/Coca react with the board to form electricity-conducting chemical that can't be removed unless treated with acid.

RE: Yeah

Besides Coke is a powerfull oxydant. That's why you can clean your toilet with it, or remove light rust on metal. There are many more uses for Coke.
However it just seems to me that your keyboard is sticky, try removing the keys and handwashing them with an alchool swipe. Please do not use Vodka. :P OR do this way one shot for you one shot for the keyboard. It's worth the try.
