Killing the merchant for Decker?

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Ok,
If I remember correctly I did this quest one of the first times I played the game way back, but now I can't seem to do it.

I talk to Decker and I get the quest to go kill Hightower(I think thats the name), I kill him and go back to talk to Kain and he basically tells me to go away.....*sniff*...what am I doing wrong?!

Yeah I've done that about, oh say, 10 times now. I just don't get it..I go back to talk to Kain and he wont let me in...BAH!

try not talking to kain and, just sneak into the back room and take a stairwell down to decker
 
Good idea Fallout, but I tried it. Even sneaking and trying to open the door it says "You cannot open the door with Kain there" or something like that. So I took it to the extream and shot him in the eyes a few times with the .233, after he decided to take a dirt nap I went down stairs and was attacked.....*sniff*

That's strange.

To my memory, by the way, the first Decker quest is "steal the necklace from Hightower", not kill him, killing him is the last Decker quest. Be sure not to get those two mixed up. I did once, they don't like it.
 
Try killing everyone in the Hightower sector. I don't know if that will do anything..... or, you could just rat him to the police and make some fat loot off of that :D
 
Yeah, I know, but I wanted to get the quest where I can go over to the Cathedral and place a few .233 into that freak Jain's face. Oh well, I guess I will have to be a goody goody and tell the pigs.... :cry:

Yeah, i've got the same problem. Which version are you running Mohrg6sic6?

Does anyone know what's going on?
 
I run the patched version. It's weird, I restarted a new game and I was able to do the quest the second time through(Second time through that day). So I would assume it's just a minor glitch of some sort.

I killed the merchant and DIDN't get the quest flagged or was able to get back to decker
 
Like I said a simple restart of the whole game fixed that problem for me. :P

i think it has something to do with your karma maybe.... maybe did you do any other quests that would have boosted or degraded your karma inbetween the decker quest???
 
Good question, but I don't remember exactly what I did up to Decker. It very well could be though.
