I thought RFO English Version has died for good? I even lost my lvl 30 character >__<

Sadly it did. However during the beta, early launch they used a profanity filter that literally used something like Bablefish to translate it to English from Korean meaning amazingly random things got censored.

Speaking of which, I loaded up Crysis 2 demo earlier and found it hilarious that you can't say "gay" (can say faggot and queer) or... you ready for this? "button". Lol wtf??

There was an (optional) language filter in fallout too incase you didnt recall and before you blame new games of the century for that. I rather ask: what's the big deal? It's just abusive language which gets cut out. Then again, I don't swear much nor do I play Multiplayergames much.

I play predominantly Call of Duty games online and fortunately they have been consistently free of censorship. It's really half the game's fun shouting "LEARN SKILL GAY NOOBTUBING BITCH" or "CAMPER WHORE" etc at someone.

Most ridiculously extended censoring I've encountered in is Lord of the Rings Online. Apart from "DAMN" the in-game chat blocks even words like "ASSIST", and on a rather humorous occasion, the name of "Charles Dickens" for fuck's sake.

Except it doesn't REALLY cut out abusive language, and it's also mandatory in some games as noted.

Why/where is it mandatory to curse and swear? Last time I checked I wasn't forced to use abusive language somewhere.

I meant a "mandatory filter" as opposed to optional parental controls you mentioned. The latter have been around for ages. The former are the bane of modern multiplayer.

I also wouldn't mind censoring basic swearwords. I often self-censor those when I post on, for example, forums with a younger base. Censoring other random expressions that someone somehow found offensive but aren't even uncommon to see in print ("Tuesday"? "bi"? "damn"? gimme a break) is complete and utter bullsh*t.

People like that are the reason I listen to music when i play COD online, they make me rage worse than losing. It's annoying to hear that, at least to me, because they go on NON FUCKING STOP about it.

Heh, yeah constant cursing over the microphone is indeed annoying. I always mute every player before matches. It's kinda funny when you type that stuff, but when you scream them like a ninny it goes to another level.
