Late game impressions (spoilers, obviously)

lmao

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Just beat the game!

[spoiler:fa5ebc1d1e]
- I chose to be independent. I was never going to work with the Legion, and I didn't trust Mr. House. I feel like life would be better if I were in charge of everything, anyway. However, my ending was not particularly positive. I wasn't particularly pleased with that, but I accept it, because life doesn't always work out (remember the Broken Hills endings?)

- I wish there were more ways to forge alliances, but again, the lack thereof is realistic. Mr. House would not allow me to let the Brotherhood live, and after I replaced the Brotherhood elder, the new one would not ally with NCR either. And when I took over Hoover Dam, there was no way for me to make nice with NCR. I was a little pissed off about that.

- Some of the quests were really interesting and well-done. Some were more fetch quests, run-here-and-then-run-there, not exactly awe-inspiring. Overall, the quality and complexity of the quests far outstrips Fallout 3, however.

- I had almost no bugs, crashes, or glitches.

- There were enough memorable characters to satisfy me - Boone, Marcus, Raul, Tabitha, Julie Farkas, Mr. House, the doc in Goodsprings, etc - but no one who rose to the levels of original Fallout awesomeness. There was no one I hated as much as I hated First Citizen Lynette. Perhaps I would have hated Caesar, if I had ever spoken to him before killing him.

- The difficulty level is excellent. I wasn't terribly godly even at level 30. I still felt like I was being challenged. Perks, stats, and skills were all well-balanced.[/spoiler:fa5ebc1d1e]

If you've beat the game, feel free to share your ending scenarios! Here's mine:

[spoiler:fa5ebc1d1e]

- After I took over Hoover Dam, the strip falls into anarchy for awhile, and then eventually becomes stable again, but not as prosperous as before.

- The Kings make Freeside the most stable area in New Vegas.

- Goodsprings becomes very prosperous.

- The Brotherhood of Steel takes over Helios One from the NCR and ends up sending out patrols from the area to confiscate technology from traders.

- Novac suffers casualties from Legion forces, and Bright ghouls return to help the town recover.

- The Followers of the Apocalypse suffer from too many refugees, and can barely manage to attend to basic needs.

- The Nightkins of Jacobstown become cured of their Stealthboy addiction, and the town becomes a haven of peace for Super Mutants everywhere.

- Rex is a good dog.

- The NCR (who I made sheriff) abandons Primm (those bastards!)

- Tabitha and Rhonda travel the wasteland, and it becomes the stuff of legend.

- The Boomers continue to hold Nellis.

- Fiends overrun and hold Camp McCarran

That's about all I can remember.[/spoiler:fa5ebc1d1e]

Question Regarding the Endgame:

[spoiler:cd2870d6e1]Ist there REALLY no peacefull way if you side with the ncr to let the BoS live? I hate to have to kill them all... C'mon, there has to be a way to negotiate a treaty or such... :/[/spoiler:cd2870d6e1]

[spoiler:8f609f53c6]I talked to the Elder and managed it to get them into (temporary) peace with the NCR. The NCR wasn't happy about it, but it worked. You need a high speech skill for this and the BoS has to like you. Also I've became a member of the Brotherhood then.

Doesn't mean that my ending was better tho'. There was a temporary peace, NCR agreed on giving back all power armors to the BoS, while the BoS agreed in patrolling the highways for the NCR.[/spoiler:8f609f53c6]

[spoiler:9fed07de9e]Well, you can make it so the BoS is allowed to leave without bloodshed, but no, there is no peaceful co-existence. Same with the Khans.[/spoiler:9fed07de9e]

[spoiler:d86f9ddbc3]wtf man, I did all the quests I could do for the BoS before, but at some point it glitched (I have all the parts from old vaults they needed in my inventory, yet I cant finish the quest), also the high elder doesnt have a new speech line when trying to get this agreement with the NCR. I am liked at the BoS and I am already a member of them... So I guess this is bugged. :( Whatever, I will try this in my next playthrough then....)[/spoiler:d86f9ddbc3]

[spoiler:3563187ec0]If you replaced the elder with Elder Hardin, you can't ally with NCR at all. it sucks, I know.[/spoiler:3563187ec0]

[spoiler:8437a2b784]Well, it makes sense, because the other Elder doesn't want peace. He wants to go out and kick asses again and I doubt that this will end in a good way for the BoS.[/spoiler:8437a2b784]

[spoiler:f930740aca]Caesar isn't insta-hateable and I believe he has the largest dialog in the game. The problem with his character is that he just sits in the tent all the time and issues commands to you. His real-world inspiration was a bit more active I believe.[/spoiler:f930740aca]

[spoiler:10576804e7]Well, Caesar is ill. As far as I've understand, he has a brain tumor. Later in game, the player can try to heal or kill him while he is under the autodoc.[/spoiler:10576804e7]

Is there any conections between your level and monsters strenght? I mean, is the balance so bad like in f3?

well you can get out and try it, there are quite enough situations where you run in a nest of death claws which are proabaly some of the most challanging enemies. And taking them 1 by 1 one isnt always easy/possible. If you dont have some kind of weapon with high critical skills from a distance. Luckily both people with high energy and gun skills get those either with the Gauss rifle or the antimaterial and usual sniper rifle. But they take some punch, are quite fast and even if you get some it happens that you find your self in close fights with 2 or 3 which is nasty.

Just finished, went for the indep. ending. Decided I was tired of my character and want a new one. Went easily through the Dam and blew the damn thing up. Hilarious moment - the Enclave remnants I recruited actually attacked me  I'm guessing that's because I told them to assist NCR since there was no option to make them assist ME. So ends the tale of a lone Asian man fighting for freedom.

I think my next character will be a smart and charming lady who is evil at heart and wants to see Vegas burn.
