Lay Off Da Box

First time out of the vault
I see tons of people bashing the beautiful machine that is the X-box. The truth of the matter is, X-box is by far the best system. Not the quickest as that belongs to GCN. But X-box has the best quality, the best graphics BY FAR, and the best peripherals. The graphics and loading times for PS2 games make me physically ill. The polygonal characters hemorrhage my cranial arteries. The game Vexx for instance on PS2 causes me to depreciate with load times. The DEMO version on X-box runs better than the full PS2 version. Then there is the controller complaint. A big controller is good, its made for bigger hands...MATURE gamers which the X-box appeals to more than the other two systems. As for people saying Halo is good for PC...sure it has great features...but it isn't the X-box original. Come time for Half-Life 2 and Halo 2, X-box will OWN the other game systems without a doubt. PS2 has a greater run time in its industry than X-box so they get a head start...then everyone had to buy multiple PS2's because their systems crapped out...PS2:POS. My mom bought the PS2...what is it worth now? The first one she bought makes a damn good paper weight! My X-box has a whole year of hard core gaming on it and it runs smoother than an soapsuds enema. As for PC...I hate it...as time goes the PC runs...slower...and SLOWER...then you have to get a new one to keep up with gaming. Not everyone can afford that. My biggest fear about a possible Fallout 3 would be that it have so much system requirements normal people couldn't play it. X-box is a good system that according to the critics and other "analysts" shouldn't even be here now. But it has survived and become a thorn in Sony's side. It is here to stay with its mature game audience and its crisp graphics. Sorry to offend but I had to defend the best multiplayer platform around since nobody else was.

"Even still with Sony's apparent dominance, and Nintendo's reputation over the ages, Xbox is still silencing the critics. Because we all remember what the analysts said about the 'Big Black Box', it was supposed to flop a year ago."-X365 Moderator

I'd get an xbox but then I'd have to get a new apartment to fit it in (LOL xbox=huge LOL)

LOL I do give it that...it is huge roflmfao. Good one. I admit in future revision I hope its smaller...but if it has to be big to produce its gaming...then leave it big lol.

Heh, my buddy got one the day they came out. As soon as we took it out of the box our other friend says, "Okay, now how do you feed it."

My God, no one has live until they played Project Gotham Racing 2. Nothing beats doing 360's in a virtual Enzo Ferrari.

And if you don't get excited about Rallisport Challenge 2, you might need to check your pulse...

I love the XBOX..It's the best console I've owned, and I've owned almost everything except the PS2. Yeah, I've even got a Gamecube.

I like the Gamecube for the portability, and the number of just "fun" games. The graphics don't blow me away, but the games are just great.

I love the XBOX, though..Graphics amaze me, there are fairly quick load-times..I've not encountered any in-game slowdowns, and..The prices for games keeps dropping so I'm able to play a shit-ton of fun stuff.

The only game I'm waiting for that's PS2 only at the moment is Monster Rancher 3...But I have a feeling Microsoft will secure some rights to make an XBOX version. GTA III/Vice City kicks total ass on the XBOX. I am glad it was ported in time for Christmas this past year.

I quite like the X-Box. There's no lag, no choppy animation, and the graphics are wonderful.
Then again, I'll be honest: I've never had a PS2 so I can't really compare it with that. The only comparison I have is my crap PC which has never been able to run good games correctly.

Until my boyfriend got an Xbox for his birthday, I didnt have any incentive to buy a console system. I toyed with the idea and got it. Now I play more videogames than he does.

I actually had my choice between PS2 and Xbox - but after all the research, I chose the latter. Haven't regretted the decision at all. There is still a wider varity of games on PS2, but the only games I wanted were on the Xbox. That, of course, is a personal preference.

The S controllers came with my system - never dealt with the "fat" controller. I don't have issues with the size of it either - we don't need to bring it places, because many of my friends have an Xbox now as well.

Either way, it brought out the gamer in me once again. I actually had forgotten what it felt like to be immersed in a video game.

I actually don't own any console, but my little bro' owns an Xbox, which we usually play a lot when i visit (a T1 connection and an Xbox with a 80GB harddrive is one nifty combination :twisted:). Also, my flatmate owns a PS2, which I sometimes play on.

Anyway, I think that really none of the consoles are all-out superior. Sure, the Xbox has superior hardware in comparison, but on the other hand it doesn't have as many quality games (Overall, that is. In some genres it beats out the PS2, but in most genres the PS2 wins.). When it comes to the controllers I don't think those really are much of an issue. You can get used to both, although I find the analog stick of the PS2-controller to be a bit too sensitive in some games. But that is likely a calibration issue with the games more than anything else.

All that being said, I think that if I ever bought a console I would first check out the games that were released as well as those in development to get a picture of which console had the most games I wanted to play. Because I think that I never heard a truer statement than 'It's the games that make the platform'.

The old "PS2 has more games than xbox, so it's better" argument is absolute bullshit. How long has the ps2 been around? A few years more than the xbox for sure. So of course it is going to have more games.

I find that I have no problem with the size of the xbox, all you need is a carry bag for it and a place to go with a tv.
Also, the xbox is more cost efficient. It has 4 controller ports, so no need for multi taps that cost maybe $10.00, has systems link and ethernet port, all you need is a cable. And then of course there is the big thing, the harddrive. Now granted you could get a harddrive for the ps2, but it a) costs about 100 dollars, b) it makes the ps2 more bulky and more troublesome to transport than the xbox, and c) it is not inside the ps2.

Now, I own my own xbox, and my brothers have a ps2. I used to keep a chart on paper of how many times the ps2 locked up, but now I have to keep it on my laptop, and my brothers have had it only since christmas. Whereas I have had my xbox since the start of last year, and in that time it has only freezed up twice, both times when I had been playing morrowind for 6+ hours.

But when it comes right down to it, it is your own decision. I feel I made the right one, and I hope that you make what you feel is the right decision.

Really Gruug? That's strange to me. I've had my PS2 for over 2 years now and never had it lock up on me once. My sister's X-Box green-screened on the first night she got it. It hasn't since.

*shrug*

What do you do to your consoles that cause them to lock up? Its never happened for me, ever, whether i'm playing on a PS2 or and XBox, and we'll play video games for marathon stretches.

I've owned all three systems at some point. By far the biggest waste is the XBOX. Sure, I'll give it that it has great graphics and some good games, it just hasn't been working for them. For how long each has been out, the N64 and PSX each had far more games out than the XBOX has now in the equivalent time. Plus, most of those titles are going to be on other consoles, so I really don't see the reason to own one further.

While the XBOX is nice graphically, it's just a waste of time and money unless you happen to like the few games the XBOX has. I've also seen far more complaints about the XBOX controller's design over the size of it. The main problem with the XBOX is that unless a big name publisher looks to take an interest in the game, a development house isn't going to really bother with it.

While the PS2 has the legacy of the PSX to run off from, the PSX was designed for both ease of development and a format that would be easy to use by both them and the consumers. The PSX also had far more titles than the XBOX in the same product age. Microsloth fucked up in making the XBOX a bit more unacessable to the developers than others, and it's not really liked by many save for the few esoteric titles it offers.

On the portability scale, the GameCube wins, with many fun games out there, including some that break the stigma that it's a kiddy console, and small disks that can be put into a carrier to fit alongside it and the other essentials. Forget the XBOX, it's just a beast, filling the backpack long before you take into account the controllers and games. The GameCube is also great for those with other GameCube games, or give some special benefit to owning a GBA, and there's little reason not to if you like games, being one of the best handhelds around and offering some fun games while also being backwards compatable.

So, to put it simply, we should love the XBOX because it is pretty and fast, with peripherals that most would hardlyuse to begin with? Didn't many people say that about the Dreamcast? Speaking of handhelds as well, I think I remember a congruent pleading for the N-Gage on a newsgroup a little while ago. Fact is, people go towards which console offers them the best deal for what suits them. Sorry to say, "shiny and fast with stuff I'll pay for and never use" isn't much of a concern to most people when they look at the advantages of other consoles.

As for the PS2 locking up/overheating/burning up/etc, there's a little thing called CLEANING, which is possible simply by taking a vacuum cleaner nozzle to the air vents, much like cleaning a computer's power supply (and I shudder to think of how many are clogged with choking dust, owned by those reading this). Try cleaning the house itself, too, sometime. There's a reason why stupid people often have kitchen fires from toasters with an inch of crumbs in the bottom. It's because they then get to collect a check from the fire insurance on their mobile home, or they're just stupid.

PS2 gets my vote. I like the controller setup more than any console game i've ever played. The graphics are still great, and you don't have to pay extra monthly for online services. Also my favorite console game NCAA football 2004 (as well as madden) are setup so perfectly for the PS2 while the XBox seems like a shotty transfer job. For the record, i don't own either system but if i had my choice i'd go with ps2.

I love my X-Box, as well as my Gamecube. I wouldn't even go near a PS2 with a plasma rifle. When me and my fellow Deathclaw compared both the X-Box version of Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter with the one on the PS2, The attempts that the PS2 made Graphically Made me laugh.

X-Box = 1st
Gamecube = 2nd
PC = 3rd
Mega Drive/ Genesis = 4th
etc

PS2 = 20th?
