Left 4 dead 2 is free on steam today.

Seems like everyone on the internet wants it, because Steam is down (has been down for a few hours now, actually)

I managed to grab it in time, since I was lucky enough to see the announcement minutes after Steam posted it.
Not sure if I'll ever play it, though. I've tried it once, and didn't really like it.

Pretty much this except that i never tried it. It does not feel like a game for me and sadly i actually try to only have good games/games from a good serie on my steam.. Hope this one doesn't ruint it >>

To those who got it and not sure about it, I recommend checking if one of your friends got it as well and playing it with them and a headset, you might be surprised, its really a lot of fun.

p.s. It has several half-hourish levels so you can drop in for short period and drop out, which was important to me.

I never got into the first & second games, and since I was late to the party, I just thought it wouldn't be worthwhile to get into it at that point.

But I'll give it a shot now. I like a good shooter, and I like good zombie movies. So let's find out how good/bad this is. :)

I have only ever played it on 360 because a freind had it, needless to say I had nothing but a horrible time with a console fps. Not that it matters now, the promo is no longer up.

Again, I strongly recommend playing with couple of friends with team speak. Since it isn't really your run of the mill FPS, its more about team play and survival and some interesting tactical modes. So while you can play without team speak, it will be far worse experience, like running with couple of dumb bots. You want to be able to sync your actions, cry out warnings or for help, or just make fun about the last encounter.

Btw there is another similar game you might want to try DayZ mod, its much less forgiving or fleshed out, but its really fun for those who likes this type of games.

Was actually able to snag it while it was still free.

also picked up Hotline Miami for $2.00 and Shadowrun Returns for $10.00.
