Ok, played the demo and I've got to say its much what I expected. Cool, but more for kids IMHO. Yes you get to play as Indie, and yes, you do have an awesome whip, and yes, the soundtrack plays throughout, BUT its a cross between Tomb Raider and Sonic the Hedgehog. You explore the caverns but you're also collecting anything shiney! Your life is four little hearts which can be taken if you fall too far, get punched/eaten by spiders/crocodiles or generally impale yourself on something sharp. Losing all these hearts means you die, except when you die you only lose a few hundred points or so and not anything major (like your life!). Thus - so long as you have coins - and you're gonna have to be trying very hard to run out - you're pretty much never going to have to restart the level.

Combat is either whipping, hitting with a shovel/wrench or just punching the living day lights out of them. There are spears which you can throw and also a crossbow but I couldn't get that to work so we'll ignore it for now. Its quite cool - but only button mashing.

Graphics are nothing special - but then again - what do you really expect - there is only so much you can do with lego! The one thing that annoyed me most was the camera angles. Kept falling of ledges because of that.

One brilliant plus is that it can be two player. All you need is a friend (lol) and they can use the numberpad whilst you use the WASD keys. This is cool and lets you both get involved so long as you stay in sight!

I had to remap the controls a bit - they were all over the place at first, but other wise there aren't many buttons to remember.

All in all it was pretty fun and frustrating for the best part of half an hour.

Doubt I'll be getting the full game though - if they're only going to grunt and not talk then my usual excuse of buying it for the story starts to crumble.

I always wondered what compelled game makers to rehash those popular stories in lego form. However with the silly nature they've done it in the lego style is perfect and any game with coop is awesome as far as I'm concerned. In fact the only reason I did play the Lego Star Wars games was for the coop.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller
