Let's see you save a life, Mr. Smartypants.

I tried again today, got up to 42, got bored.

It's a really boring game...

Aye, arachnivore. Working on that site, I thought hte same thing. A massive bag of rice costs like 5 dollars. So in essence, we're contributing like .001 cents every word we get right.

100 grains of rice is a meal for a small starving child in some of the worst countries.

Get to 1000 and you're feeding a child enough to survive for 3 more days.

Every little bit counts.

This is far from the best way to help, but it is by no means a bad way.

or you could work the time you spend on silly wordgames & feed a kid his entire life?

It doesn't matter much on the long run, as the way the continent is faring, the kids will die of Malaria or/and AIDS in a few years.

I wonder how many wordgames you have to do to send Condi Rice to Africa. Forever.

I believe you need to initiate conversation with a Speech Skill of over 100% to convince her to do that.

QFT.
Or get chopped with machettes by warriors that eat that rice.

most money given to NGOs end up spent on administration (in most cases up to 80%). and if aid ever does make it to needy areas, it often falls into the hands of some criminals who seize it and sell it instead of giving it away...

That's why this isn't about the rice, but the rights (bragging, that is). I won! Fuck you! You are dumb etc.

You do realize that most of the words in that game are either obsolete or are seldomly being used... and most of the have latin or greek roots. Good thing I briefly studied those in high school :). I got a 50! And it only took me four days...

Got up to 50 at 1550 grains of rice on the second attempt, with the assistance of my linguist parents. We have a vast vocabulary between us (not diction xdarkyrex), but were unfamiliar with many of the words at the highest levels. They seem to have foreign/local words. Some of the obscure stuff is frequently used...but only by small numbers of people in certain regions or employment.

I haven't read Ulysses and found it a little depressing that my aged parents knew many of the words that I didn't, although I was familiar with a lot of the science stuff. I should read more.
