Location?

I wonder, why would it ruin the setting to put it in Europe? Europe is pretty diverse, and would allow for some interesting things, to see how the world affected Europe etc

Because the whole setting, ie the nuclear threat, "duck and cover" and general style is grabbed from the 1950ies USA. The 50ies in Europe wasn't anything remotely like the USA, that's why a European Fallout wouldn't quite be the same..

I don't know about that Odin, I mean, it is obviously from the US 1950s, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't transport that very same atmosphere and style to Europe as well, the only really different thing would then be the geographical stuff, and some remains of old cultures that are slightly different. frankly, since everything is already fictional anyway, I don't see what would keep them from setting it Europe. Meh, it'll probably be aroun Denver anyway ;)

Whatever it is, I hope it's far away from Vault City, Redding, NCR, Arroyo etc. I hate those stupid places and I hope they burn in hell!

I liked system of travel in Diablo 2-traveling betwen towns when you complete quests in one town and you can return to previous town if you want. They could expand that system in Fallout 3.There would be 3 regions (one from Fallout 2,Fallout 1 & one completely new) and 4-th that is final (something like Oil Rig) that could be in Europe. You would have quests that would require traveling from one region to another.

Odin, I think that the setting could be transplanted into Mexico as well- I always assumed that the US would expand south as well as north in FO), which could be interesting- the gringo Vault survivors against the minority non-vault survivors. That is, if you do not follow the Bibible, and it's "No life without FEV" nonsense.

No way.
First of all it was a travesty to have the Red Threat be China, not the USSR. Second, no. It stays in North America.

It might be intresting to head into the Texas area and check out whats happening there. Or travel to famous landmarks and or citys, New York, Washington DC and see how bad the devestation was. Although staying with good ole Cali would be cool to see the new "empire" was formed with V13 and Arroyo.

I wonder if it's not possible (using vertibirds or something) to play either America, Europe and China! Let's say that we start in old California, but when the time comes we go to europe, or China! I think that it would be interesting to see how Europe subsided to the Great War, and it would be a nice way to have diferent environments... Just a thougt though! ;)

A travesty?! Are you one of those Soviet hardliners still hopeing for the rebirth of Mother Russia?

China makes perfect sense. Especially if you consider today's international scene and even the scene in the 1990's, when the game was created.

I do agree, all these travel idea's are really cool, but you are asking for Fallout 3 to get a grip on a handful of sand instead of a rock. Let them target one locale and do a great job instead of 3 continents and 500 cites.

I think if they go big they should just keep it to USA Canada and as far as Alaska. If they hit China at all it should be for the end of the game and you get there by a vertibird refueling depot at W's torn down natural forest 4 oil plan and there is only enough gas to get there and back again.

Maybe revealing what happened to the rest of the world via Holodisk instead of displaying it visually. Let fans make mods if they want to do something like that...I.E. Fallout Yurop...
