Looking for friends to play Fallout Online 2 with me

What's the difference between FOnline 2 and the first one? Or Reloaded? Or 2238? Or... Whatever else has been created...

The first server open to the public was 2238 in 2009. In my opinion it was the best server that existed. It closed in 2013 if I remember correctly.
After that SDK of FOnline was released and everyone could create his own server.
Fans created Reloaded and FOnline 2 and other servers that you may not know like Requiem, TLA MK2, Desert Europe, Ashes of phoenix...Some projects died, some remained.

The servers can be very different, not the same items, not the same perks. Not the same places, not the same level cap.
I have my personal opinion about what is the best server but I always followed the same logic : We are not many players to play FOnline. So we should not split the community on different servers because what is the point of having the best mechanics if there are no players on a multiplayer game (which higly relies on interactions with others to give you fun) ?

So I always played on the most played server and tried to unite the community. Currently the most played server in average is FOnline 2, so I am playing FOnline 2.

It's not like a music, or a movie. You can enjoy your movie alone, you can listen to your music alone and enjoy it. But you can't enjoy a FOnline server if you are alone ! People have troubles to understand this since years.

To answer roughly your question. Reloaded server deleted the full drop feature to be more noob friendly. There is no level cap there, and they created a farm system (that was abused and broke the server economy).

Contact me via pm if you are interested to play with me Mr Fish !

2238 was the second server. The first one was Fonline 4000 or TLA or just Fonline. Both are closed.

Most other Fonline servers are clones of one of those two, with a few changes here and there.
(and the most part of those mods are maps from the original Fallout 1 and 2.

Very few tries to do something different. The best IMO being Ashes Of Phoenix, but it has unfortunately a low playerbase (if it still has one). But even without other player, there is already so much to do that it would be a shame not to try it. (even if you aren't into multiplayer)

I used to play FOnline but almost every version I've tried has been so biased towards the PVP system to the point that PVE or just player interactions get shafted to the point where it isn't any fun.

A good MMORPGer needs a balance between the content it delivers so that there is ways to enjoy interracting with players that isn't just gunning them down. Especially when the other players you're facing are min/maxing twits with ultimate gear that instakills you with minigun crits the moment you load up the map.

I like the brutal nature of FOnline, but every version I've played has been in desperate need of balance and a shift of focus towards other areas that aren't just PVP or PK. Like, I don't mind the unpredictability and the fact that anything goes considering it is a lawless wasteland a lot of the time. But running out of ideas to keep playing after getting the best base and a couple of vehicles isn't fun, and when you feel compelled to start a new character just so you can stand the remotest of a chance in PVP because you didn't sit down to map out every single point to spend to min max your character it just drains the entertainment out of it.

So, FOnline 2, what does it have that separates it?

I remember one of the versions had minor events that could pop up on the map where it would stay there for a certain amount of time like a little map node akin to Gecko Caves and then it'd disappear and it allowed you to scavenge a lot of props in a map for resources to craft with rather than the usual method of just going to the mines constantly.

Does it have anything to separate its experience from the other versions of FOnline and in that case, what is it?

I'd love to play FOnline again but I don't want to waste my time ending at the exact same point as all of the other times of running out of shit to do.

Hey Naossano I remember you ! Too bad you and your friends are not playing anymore.

Comment ça va ? :D

Not so many differences I think, still PvP oriented so not for you. I'd not recommend you to play it then Mr Fish.

In this Website https://fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/FOnline:_2238 it is said that : "August 15, 2009: After several months in Close Beta Test, the Open Beta Test 3 begins. It's the third Open Beta Test for the FOnline game, but the first for the rotators game, now only known as FOnline: 2238. For the first time, everybody can play the game and test it."

But there were already 2 OBT tests before, but they didn't last long (few days for the first one, and more than a month for the second one) and only active members of fallout communities knew about it..

I've never tried playing Fonline so i'm interested (plus its always fun to meet new people). I live in France like @naossano (thought I was the only french dude playing Fallout lel) so I don't know when you'd wanna play. I don't play multiplayer much at all, but its Fallout so it obviously has to be awesome.

Oh can't we send private messages here ? Maybe it's just that I don't know how to do it. I wanted to send you my discord Paladin Hank but didn't want to say it publicly. But well dang it, add Narrow#1313 on discord.

Je suis français moi aussi !

Nice to meet you! Gotta say its cool talking to meet a french guy who knows Fallout. That's pretty dang rare. So you live in France too?
Also sorry for responding so late I was away for a while. We can play whenever I just need to set Fonline up. Also if anyone else is interested in playing feel free to join up. The more the merrier !
Also if I have a weird discord profile but don't worry I'm a perfectly sane individual (I think).

Bullets points, because different topics.

The Fallout french speaking community gathers on this website, but also on Facebook and Discord. (we also use other plateforms, but less often.) Although, there aren't many people there that currently play Fonline.
While i played the Fallout classics, i knew a lot of people who didn't know or didn't play them. But with Fo3-FoNV-Fo4, Bethesda is now one of the most famous gaming companies.

It confirms that 2238 is an alternative to TLA, with the agreement of TLA author.

It would advice AOP for a couple of reasons.
- It is much more noob\casual friendly, because you can get a lot of XP for any activity, more easily get stuff and there is only a limited number of teams, that any player can join. So, even if you are a nobody with a random character, you can still join the action, have teammates, and your character can still be effective. You don't have to join a small club of Progamers jerks. (although, it remains more fun if you have friends ingame)
- It has its own worldmap, that isn't copy-pasted from the original Fallout games.
- There is only one HUGE city to explore, with roaming critters, dungeons and mini-dungeon, and enough loot lying around to allow you to keep fighting and scavenging. So, even if there is no PVP, the game is still far from boring.
- Overall, while there is still some jerks playing the game, i think the atmosphere is less toxic than 2238, for instance.

@NarrowMinded
Which server\team\nickname were you playing with ?

Hey Naossano sorry for late response. I played in A.L.L and we played with TTTLA and later in the COA alliance on 2238. There we met the C88/The guardians allies too..

Ah the Lawyers.

I was one of those folks who played the originals and only got so far because of bank interest. After they nerfed that, it was done as FOnline was all about PK. Nothing like fucking blue suits crippling you with BBs, blue suits planting bombs on you, stealing from you while your trying to talk to a merchant, caps being merchant only, etc, etc. Got a new car, oh yea, the devs wanted your car to be visible for a certain amount of time to everyone or at least, have other people able to wander into your car area and jack it.

The devs were highly biased towards PVP clans, AKA The Mutant Artillery thread. Nobody gave a shit about solo folks and bank interest until one of the bigger clans used bank interest to hire a ton of SM with rockets and placed them at the entrance of towns. Most invaders would be killed before they could zone in.

i played fonline like ten years ago or so. this game was brutal.

i remember trying to play fallout online a few years ago and everything was down. i though the idea just died. i had no clue there are so many versions of it now :D
