Hello all,

Barely having finished Dante's Inferno, Visceral games already is eying another literature classic to bring to the game screen.

In this case Shakespeare's 'Scottish play'.

It makes you wonder this interpretation of a classic will turn into after Visceral games' take on Dante's Divine Comedy.

Most likely a game in which you rip out the spines and spleens of various super natural critters.

Addendum

I suddenly got a terrible image of the classic got warped a la Futurama style future, and that all the future population knows is the stories of these games.

The Lion King is basically Macbeth with animals.

Now, if we could play as a lion version of Macbeth and maul the shit out of Polonius I will be a very happy camper.

Dante's Inferno looks like a poor man's God of War... played the demo and was bored quite quickly.

Not looking forward to them raping Shakespeare.

That's okay since God of War is a poor man's Devil May Cry.

"MacBeth: by William Shakespeare - it will have blood..."
Hahahah, I love that cover. I'm interested by the idea and, while I haven't played Dante's Inferno, what I've heard about the adaptation gives me confidence that he won't strangle the game by keeping it too close to the source material. Of course, that can create it's own set of problems but I'm quite interested to see where this goes.

This statement leads me to believe you either haven't played God of War or Devil May Cry.

Devil May Cry and God of War are quite different styles of game.

I'd like to see the hilarious game of "Hamlet".

"Shit...everyone's dead?"
You know as soon as you mentioned "Hamlet", I was reminded of certain film scene with Schwarzenegger.

Different, sure, but not radically so. God of War is slower, doesn't focus on juggling, doesn't have guns, and has a love for integrated quicktime events. God of War also tosses in some "puzzles" which aren't very interesting and are no challenge, further slowing it down. Add in a save system worse than the original Devil May Cry and there you have it. I'm not saying that God of War is a bad game, simply that it's not a great game and quite overrated (I'd put Onimusha and Genji above it). Same genre (though God of War splashes crap action/adventure gameplay), one's superior to the other.

That said, you're right that they aren't as similar as God of War and Dante's Inferno and God of War isn't a poor man's DMC like Dante's Inferno is a poor man's God of War. Then again, I finished God of War mainly to do so, I was bored by probably around a third of the game, which is why I never bothered with the sequel.

Viper > Ah, Arnold at his best. I miss the king of cornball action flicks.
