Making Fallout Great Again

Unless Bethesda and Obsidian are working together in secret on a new fallout, I am of the belief that the only way fallout can become great again is

*drumroll*

Someone creating a competitor to it that is around the quality of New Vegas but with better gameplay. If this competitor could start raking in cash it could make Bethesda reconsider it's position on Fallout being a subpar Action Adventure franchise meant to pull in money from children. If they don't, well try to beat them in sells. If it works, Bethesda might get chopped up and you can buy Fallout (or Obsidian could). If it fails, well you still have a nice post-apocalyptic RPG.

Also, I think the best place to set it would be 10 to 50 years after a nuclear war in the 1980s. With this you'll be able to play off of nostalgia and faux nostalgia of the 80s, and have a theme that could compete with Bethesda's 1950s feeling. Also a cult with Ronald Reagan as the god would be cool.

It could be.

Problem is, all that takes time, and Bethesda have already sunk to the point where regardless of the IP -- Fallout or Elder Scrolls -- they will take every chance they get to dumb down what they want and leave a husk that modders feel compelled to fill.

I know it will never happen, but Bethesda should sell the Fallout IP to obsidian and let them take it over. New Vegas is known as the best "modern" fallout game and it would mean the series could be what it used to be.

The IDTech 1 (DOOM) and GameMaker Engines would be good places to start designing a new kind of Fallout game, I think. Depending on which type of perspective is preferred.

Maybe there are some good indie devs doing something good. The russians always looks like to be doing some kind of fallout experience.

There are good games these days... I've never played Wasteland 2, but looks a good shot.

Either way, Obsidian SHOULD be allowed to make another Fallout game. But I'm green at the community here. I've heard that lot of Fallout fans asked for a Obsidian's Fallout, without success...

After the backlash of Failout 4 there's no way Bethesda would let Obsidian blow them out of the water again. It's funny, because with less time, and also the horrible and outdated tools created by Bethesda, they could easily create something far superior.

How to make Fallout great again.

1. Repeatedly "Radiantly" Suicide bomb Bethesda's headquarters.
2. When they ask why say, "Not going to discuss bombing a game developer that doesn't play their own game."
3. Drink martinis out of emptied tin cans with the guys at Obsidian.
4. Let Obsidian make another Fallout
5. Play it and enjoy
6. Ask Emil to make a shitty meme about them being bombed, then never add it to any game.
I'm an idiot, Odorites will never love me.

Shh. I know your pain child. I too have longed for the fabled pink sticker. I traded my shitposts and memes for advice and reviews. And when they still would not accept me as one of their own I came to the realisation that... it's a fucking title in a video game forum and will yield absolutely no benefits in the real world. Its only purpose is to satisfy a need for power that seems to be present in only Norwegian people.

plz dont ban. i am renowned shitposter. do not take serious and forgive english my broken. love thy neighbour, genesis 4 : 20

You should ditch the disclaimers and shitpost like a man.

Otherwise, it is just better and more healthy to forfeit any hope to see Bethesda makes a proper fallout game or even a proper rpg. It was already awfull when they made fallout 3 as tes with guns. Now they don't even bother making a tes game. Their next fallout will probably a mash up of the games that sold the most during the year their next tes will be released, just like fallout 4 was a mash up of borderlands, Minecraft and mass effect. If the race games become trendy again, expect a lot of racing, even if npcs keep mentioning a shortage of car energy.

I don't think there's any chance Fallout will get better unless Obsidian make some new Fallout games or someone makes a Fallout cRPG. But the likelihood of that seems to be slimming.

I wager that the Fallout series will just get so commercialized and vapid that it will ultimately end up as just another sandbox or free-roam shooter series. The streamlining won't stop until Fallout loses all of its character. It'll be like the Call of Duty of modern RPGs and it will attract an audience that just want to shoot things without thinking about it. And there won't be any end in sight if they remain cash cows.

At least a lot of people are catching on to how poorly made Bethesda's games are. I don't think that's enough to impact them yet. But Fallout 4 shows that their streak of awards and critical praise may be coming to an end if they don't stop streamlining their games and don't do anything really innovative with their game design/engine.

If they take me to court I'll make a game called "The Elder Court" and sue them for it.
Make sure you have your Charisma maxed-out to 10 and your speech to 100...or have all of the perks for it. They may go easy on you if you use some wacky sarcastic dialogue. Bethesda love sarcastic bants.

I don't think Obsidian can help, at least from a subjective perspective. I know NV is very popular here, but I found the game to be almost equally terrible as F3, some aspects I found even sillier (don't get me started on Caesar's Legion)
