Man Sues over Chatroom Humiliation

Way To Go .... OHIO

Article cited above:
... Even if Marlowe did take a trip to Ohio, posting a picture of someone's house on the Internet does not violate privacy laws, ...

County for Columbus is Franklin County.
The Franklin County Auditor has all taxable properties listed with a representative picture. Also states what sale price (you arranged to pay with the mortgage), what taxes you pay, and if you're current with your property taxes. All this is legal in Ohio, public record.

If this 'home' information was volunteered, the address, if his identity was freely shouted to the AOL universe (they seem to be on a REAL NAME basis.), if a spitting match was on record in this AOL room, and if this case can be designated as 'frivolous' , (gasp!) then expect a counter suit.

AND, another reason to stay away from AOL, or ... Ohio.

Megan Gray, a Washington D.C.-based intellectual property attorney who specializes in cyber issues, called it "a loser of a case." She said the Communications Decency Act gives AOL immunity from chatroom misconduct.

"AOL cannot be held liable for the actions of people on the site," she said.

She also suggested the case against Marlowe and Charpentier was doomed.

Pretty much sums it up.

I was wondering when stupid shit like people sueing other idiots over some chatroom bullshit...But as Big T wrote, I'm still confused on how physical injury can be incurred from such an incident...

Oh well, thats America for you...

"severe emotional distress or physical injury" is the statute...

Dude so many could sue...even from this place. Could you imagine if a little kid went crying to a courtroom with a copy of one of Roshambo's tirades?

There might have been somebody that, recognized a neighbor, then went to dash his ignorant and idiotic "friend" in the neighborhood.

except Rosh would tear them apart and probably make the judge cringe and feel weak too before the might of the deathclaw.
And then the judge would order the deathclaw hunting season to be started again, and the Brotherhood of Steel Commander Stone Heart would kill Roshambo, like the animal he is.
:D
