In a recent interview of CGSociety with the people of concept art studio Massive Black, the following highly interesting statement pops up:
The company’s experience developing and holding training workshops helped bring Massive Black’s China-based team up to speed quickly. Now, under the direction of Dan Staton and producer Jenny Kim, the Shanghai staff plays a particularly important role in the studio’s 3D work as does a second team in Bangkok. “They did a great job on ‘Battlefield 2142’, ‘Hellgate’ and ‘Auto Assault’ and are now working on ‘Killzone 2’, ‘Fallout 3’ and others,” says Manley.
The president and co-founder Massive Black is Jason Manley, who worked for Black Isle Studios on Baldur's Gate II and the Icewind Dales as a promotional artist and later artist, and did additional art for Troika's Vampire: The Masquerade.

while it might be a bit questionable to have 50's US art made by chinese, the president seems to have acceptable crudentials.

Well, the Bangkok/Shangai staff does a lot of the 3D work, but if Bethesda is using the company as a whole the San Fran-based studio is probably working on the concept art as well.

i totally agree with ya :) and the proper experience which he has wont let a teams direction go amiss... i'm quite impressed by massive black and think they'd do a .. massive job :)

Somehow i have more faith in them then i would in the San-Fran and generally Beth parts (especially since .. "recruiting mod dungeon designers").

Manley's IwD portraits (read: cute chicks) are awesome. I think he also did some (uncredited?) stuff for Interplay's Invictus.

That looks somehow ... familiar.

Massive Black?

Whoa. Awesome. A lot of extremely good concept artists cooperate/work in Massive Black. Manley is pretty much a star in the concept art biz. Again, awesome.

Wait.

Are we talking Bethesda's Fallout 3, or are we talking Van Buren? I'm pretty sure some artists that work in MB did stuff for Van Buren.

Unless they're still working on Van Buren, I'm guessing this is Bethesda's Fallout 3.

Shouldn't Bethesda be well past the concept art stage, though?

Maybe a reason they haven't "shown us"
but more probable is that theyre working on 3d modelling also - compensate with some higrade professionals :) lol

Bloodlines' concept art was awesome. That said, who knows how this will turn out, concept art is often the only thing that doesn't suck about a game.

no doubt that the V:tM-B art was awesome. i've collected as much as possible from it and plan to one day put up a lil' tribute site to Troika with that stuff.

i'm also still trying to find a highres version of the Armée Troika T-shirt to print irl. ;)

How much of the material do you have?
not terribly much. i'll put it in a package and host it somewhere.

i had more, but then a harddrive died... ugh...

these concept arts are awseome, damn...

if Fallout 3 will sux, maybe although we'll get some good post-apocaliptic concept arts... better than nothing :P

Manley? I think we have stuff from him on the Van Buren concept art gallery, I'm not really sure though.

Oh, I just browsed the concept art out there and found that pic. I realy didnt mean to put anything betwen lines here.
That pic reminded me of Fallout, except there's some girl instead of Sulik out there.
