Melee Character help

I have seen a few motorcycle gas tanks and lawn mower blades around, if they just had a schematic or two laying around, we could craft one!

If that was in the next patch or DLC, I would DL it, even if I lost some crit. damage on my Sniper Rifle.

I've only ever found a shishkebab once on a dead legionary. Other than that I've never seen them again in the game.

I buyed two from Blake at level 16 and after that most of the time he always have another in his inventory.

Blake at the Crimison Caravan is the most guaranteed source for Shishkebab.

I've never seen them in stock at Blake's shop, do you have to have a certain skill or level requirement for them to appear? I've also never seen the Mantis gauntlet in game, I didn't even know it existed until the patch came out. :?

This is one of the few things I wish they'd kept the same as Fallout 3, craftable weapons.

It's really really rare to get. It was originally a craftable weapon but instead it can appear on merchants like Blake but once every blue moon which is weird as it isn't that good.
Looks pretty dang cool though.

Try going at wednesdays or sundays to buy from him, since this are the days that merchants restock their inventories.

If he don't have one, try to use the reset inventory exploit* (save before talk to him, look the inventory, exit the game to the main menu, then continue again).
This should reset his inventory and make the Shishkebab appear.

PS: Did I just said "exploit"? That's not a very nice word.

According to the Vault wiki, with a certain combination of perks it can cut through centurions like butter.

True -- But I think that we can all agree to the philosophy of "to each, his own" -- meaning that if I want to avoid the newest patch because I want an OP sniper rifle, that's fine. And if you think it's too OP, that's fine too. It's not like we have online death-matches.

The way I look at it, you spend a lot of time with crappy 9 mm guns and varmint rifles that take 20+ bullets to kill a radscorpion, so when I have gone far enough in the game to get a sniper rifle (or enough ammo for my .44 magnum to actually use it) I want to be able to kill average enemies very quickly.

Yes, but I think it's stupid because:
A)when sniping you can still kill average enemies very quickly
B)playing THIS game un-patched just for one uber weapon is insane

I found it once at the Great Khan armory, then never again. :? Again, weird. Thankfully it's not that great, especially after the patch removed its "bypass DT" ability.

You can craft a few explosive weapons, an Unarmed weapon (a crappy one) and -at one point- the Mantis Gauntlet. But yeah, underdeveloped. :|

Didn't see this last month...

A) ok, I guess so..
B) Why? What am I missing from my unpatched game that is so great? I don't have any issues with game-breaking glitches or constant freezing, so... ?

I don't believe you. But even if it's true and you are the luckiest player in the world in the vanilla game combat skills are more unabalanced, multiple quests are broken, there are various issues with ammo and... gah, just read here. This is the second patch [not the first and not the last) and look the amount of stuff that it fixes.

Actually, I didn't have any problems with the unpatched game, too.
NV rarely crashes, I don't recall any broken quests...
But yeah, balancing. The patches make that a lot better.

I am posting from work, and my work computer blocks the fallout wiki -- I know, it sucks.

Also, I won't lie and say it never freezes. Sometimes it freezes after only 2 hours of playing (playing on PS3), but usually it's after 4 or more hours of non-stop playing. It's a little annoying, but not enough to make me throw a controller.

I have heard stories about broken quests, but honestly, the only time I was confused about a quest was when Elder MacNamara told me to get a air purifier from vault 22 and I could not figure out how to get into the room with the map marker.

Is that a broken quest, or did I just walk by a door without seeing it? Either way, on all my other playthroughs I put Hardin in charge of the BoS and don't have to do that quest anymore.

That's not a bug, that's just a confusing map. Although there is a bug when you complete that quest in the unpatched version where when you're about to be given power armor training the game freezes and the only way to finish the quest is through console commands.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for that information -- I was actually thinking about trying that quest again. But now I know that replacing Elder MacNamara is the way to go for 2 reasons (well, 3 reasons if you think he's a douche). All I have to do is kill the Van Graffs to get Power Armor training from Hardin. And I never had any glitches when getting Power Armor trained by him.

I don't know if the bug affects the Hardin ending, I just know that it wouldn't let me get power armor training in McNamara's ending without console commands until the patch came out. :?
