I think it's about time that men finally stand up and do something for their rights

Seriously. It's a pretty clever video. At least in my opinion.

Id much rather endure one of the worst case scenarios of getting my dick bit and being constantly harassed by women than endure one of the best case scenario of this world, work constantly at a dead end job to provide for an ungrateful shrew who has a 40% chance of divorcing you for a richer guy and probably cheats on you.

Well, no one is forcing you to live with a shrew. Actually if one is living with a woman who would leave him in a blink of an eye, then he is not far off from a slave mentality.

Dunno about the cleverness, it's just gender-swapped reality.

The way I see it, the gender-swapping thing is there to point out some of the problems many women experience around the world, but in a way it doesn't look like they're beating a dead horse.
On the other hand, the line between gender-swapping and reality is easily blurred, as evident. Men do get raped. Men do get mistreated. And men do feel bad about it, and are often met with very little understanding and sympathy by the society or even people close to them ("He's a man, he shouldn't act like a woman/bitch about it.").

I think it's clever.
It's not brilliant, but it does show the "other side", while not dismissing the "first". Good video.

I'm interested what my "feminist" friends will say about it, if they do say anything.

50% of marriages end in divorce and 80% of divorces are initiated by the woman. I didnt really do the math but you get the point.

no shit sherlock :P

Thats what makes it somewhat clever in my opinion, I am sure one way or another it has been already done at some point to get the message across. But I see it for the first time in such a way. Hey, its not quantum physics or something like that. I just like the way how the video is made.

Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Spousal abuse is more often directed at men than at women, according to belgian statistics on the matter.

This is partially due to "he's a man, he can take it", "you shouldn't hit women (but no one said anything about men)", and so on. There's a far bigger stigma on men coming forward for being abused, than there is of women coming forward.

There's also some other facts about how men are worse off in certain situations. For example, the overwhelming majority of homeless people are male. And the number of shelters for abuse are considerably lower for males than females.

I've read some general statistic on the matter some time ago, and it's quite similar to the Belgian situation.
Men are abused, and so are women.

The problem with the current state of things is that some people have a problem to acknowledge that, obviously. The problem deepens when some of those people label themselves feminists.

though we should not turn this in to a "males have it worse then females" thing

Exactly.
Statistics-wise, man may have it worse, but it's statistics after all. It's a bit cut off from reality.

The way I see it, fighting for equality is very problematic in modern society. Extremely so.
If you imagine a scale, one side being females and other males, you'll see that for a long amount of time, female side of the scale was weighted down.
Over the course of years, in developed countries, the female side has "lost weight", but on the other hand, the male side has gained some. Now both sides are in a very uneasy situation, going up and down the whole time. Equality cannot be achieved this way, the whole thing is just to fragile and too many people just love bickering about it.
The common sense thing seems to have been lost - abuse, whether on woman or man is a fucking bad thing, and society should try to prevent it, not laugh upon it, nor use a scale to determine who's got it worse. But eh, it's pure idealism, and it doesn't work that way.

I personally don't see a solution to this matter. Not a real, long-term one.
You cannot please everybody, and somebody will always get hurt by someone else, so there it goes.

depends on the situation I would say. I have not seen any statistics recently as far as the rights of males or females goes. Though when I am looking simply at the society, I assume that its still difficult for females. Most of the leading figures in our society are still males, be it in the financial or political world. Its pretty obvious that even our modern and western societies are still rather dominant as far as male figures goes.

Though I never was really much of a fan about the idea to make everything equal at all costs. There simply are differences between males and females. Without beeing judgmentall here. I am just talking about statistics. I am sure there are males that can do something better then females and there are females that can punch you 3 times before you hit the ground. But on a large scale, there are differences.

This became obvious once I was in the firebrigade. We had males that didnt pass certain physical tests, but some females did it, because the requirements have been lower. And I always asked my self if that makes really sense, since those requiments have been based on real events, if you're able to carry a certain weight, like injured people or how you handle stress etc. And I never was sure if we should have females here just because of the gender. I know how that sounds, and I really dont have a problem with females, as long as they pass the tests like everyone else.

I think I opened a thread about the men's rights movement some time ago... But it was more about the stupid idiots from A Voice For Men and less about the general movement.

I hear you, bro.

In reality, as long as boys stand while peeing and girls need to crouch, there will be no "gender equality". And no one should ask for that.

What one should ask for are equal chances and opportunities - something Western society is slowly moving towards - but without being looked down upon by the general society. Individual incidents will always occur, you cannot change that, but asking for a place where there is an equal level of tolerance, not equality in terms of rights or wrongs, is something that is realistic, and should be granted.

It's also very hard to attain and maintain.

I remember that thread.
It's an example of how it looks to push things in bad direction.

A good deal of organizations, male or female, which fight for "equality" are just douchebags with the attitude "if we can't have it, so can't they" that is nicely hidden under layers of PC shit.
