Messiah

First time out of the vault
OK, i may have made a horrible mistake buying this game in the first place, BUT

It seems that the game will work, but with no sound effects at all, and only works in it's own safe mode.

I went onto Iplay's website, and it has no reference to the game anymore, are they embarrassed by it?

WELL ARE THEY?!

I remember that they sold that game for the equivalent of 3 Dollars. Oficially. Legally. In video game shops.

Messiah, brought to you by the "oops, we forgot how to make good games like Earthworm Jim but are paid a shitload" primadonnas of Shitty...I mean, Shiny.

Judging by the comments above, I would assume they are. Seriously though, if you want help running the game you should give your OS and what methods you've tried already.

You're referring to that crappy Matrix game they made, huh? You're right about that. But on the other hand: you can't really deny that Shiny Entertainment has a reputation of making quite original games, right? I mean: MDK and Messiah are quite different from most games that hit the shelves, aren't they? Messiah is heavily bugged, though. I only played the demo and although it looked like a very promising game, the bugs were just too much for me. And the jumping, the jumping, the jumping to keep that little angel dude from smashing into walls... Bwah... You're right: it sucks. There is a patch, though.

Original doesn't necessarily mean good. Messiah had a terrible control system that killed all playability the moment I started playing. MDK was somewhat fun, but boring after a while (it's a stupid shooter, after all). Wild 9 was so bad that it doesn't even deserve a comment. I never played Sacrifice, but it was pretty mediocre from what I heard.

What really annoys me about Shiny is all the hype around their games. Every single game they were ever making was announced as "revolutionary" and in the end it turned out to be a disappointment. Shiny manages to convince people their games will sweep them of their feet with originality, they get a huge budget and the end result is always crap. How incompetent do you have to be to spoil a great idea, even though you get funds other developers can only dream about? IMHO, Shiny Entertainment is one of those teams PC game market would be better off without.

I liked sacrifice a bit, but it wasn't really my game... It was fun the first few hours...I bought Messiah pirate copy in Cambodia and I couldn't even install it...And yeah the Matrix game was terrible...The fighting was good at times, but the rest was terrible...

Hold on... you say Sacrifice was fun the first few hours, but you couldn't install it. What was fun? Unsuccessfully attempting to install the game?

No no no. He's saying he bought a pirate edition of "Messiah" in Cambodia and he couldn't install it. Which makes sense really, since they don't have any computers in Cambodia yet. They have lots of pocket calculators, though.
