Metagaming counterparts in Fallout 3

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
Metagaming Metaphors

Be aware that is thread is NOT supposed to be taken seriously.
It is not supposed to be a deep thought about Fallout universe, just a way of twisting an intallment concept, in a quick way, by comparing the game contents with the real-life surrounding people and aspects.

It is also written by someone who didn't like the product and find unbelievable that some liked it.
So you may disagree.

Let's provide a few fake comparisons, of what real-life companies or meta-gaming individuals Fallout 3 characters/factions seems the counterparts.

Stanislas Braun :

Coming from the far east, he is the head of Bethesda's fallout 3 team.
He provides us with an universe that looks like the old one (old fallout), but it is just a sample of this old world, built only to torture us.
He keep the licence, so he is likely to keep torturing us for decades.

Desmond Lockheart :

A devellopper from Fallout 1/Wasteland 1, that left decades ago, seen from the eyes of the new fan.
He is bitter, confusing, yet full of knowledge, and want to take care of loose ends, even if they may seem to cease to be relevant after decades.

Ashur :

Obsidian. They come from a shiny team that done great good in the past, but they ended up in a shitty place like Pittsburg/Gamebryo, and are forced to deal with it. They were also abandoned by some of their teammates.
Yet, they manage to give birth to a baby (New Vegas) that give hope again in the wasteland. But, even with the baby, a bright future is not certain.

Werner :

Interplay. They worked closely with Ashur (Black Isles). They also want to improve the bad situation, but wrongly think they would do a better job than Ashur (FoBOS). In the end, they say fuck off and abandon everyone. (selling the rights)

Moira Brown :

A Fo3 designer/writter trainee. He is new on the job. He want to do good things, but no one is there to tell them that it's shit. His poor work even make to the release.
He end up happy and very proud, like he made something that was never done before.

Scribe Bigsley :

An experienced video game devellopper that was hired by Bethesda at a low rank.
He keep yelling that he is surrounded by idiots, but yet keep working and following orders.

Constantine Chase :

Member of Bethesda marketing team. He invested a lot in showing us bright shiny things, and a promise of a memorable conflict. Yet, the product is underwelming and innacurate.

The aliens :

Bethesda administrative team. They have great power, they studied the players community in order to make new products. But they totally miss the point in the end.

The Enclave :

The Fallout 3 Modders. They aren't satified in the way the world is made and have ideas that may sound aliens to the others.
Yet, they come and change the world, setting outpost everywhere and distributing new kinds of power armor. They also manage to remove some overpowered content (liberty prime) but only after the main game release.
But not everyone is aware of their existence.

Little Lamplight Children :

They are the Fallout 3 new fans. They think that this episode is the best of the entire series.
Their very existence defy logic, yet they exist and stay numerous.
They tend to reject the old ones, with no arguments.
They are trigger happy and find perfectly normal to have invincible characters.

The Brotherhood Outcast :

Fallout 1&2 fans that reject any new episodes. They stick to their opinion which is closer to the codex, don't treat others well, but don't take action agains't them. In the end, they become less and less numerous...

Jericho :

A player that was already there in the old glory days, but only there for the fight and the harshness of the wasteland. He doesn't care about the story, but still enjoy the immersion in a post-apocalyptic world.
So he's still there kicking in the new era, but he avoids making comments, as he is aware of the sensitive issue.

Ronald Laren :

A Fo1&2 fan that read bad critics of Fo3 but still wants to play it.
He doesn't want to pay for it but won't dare download it on a non legal third party website.
So he wait for it to be legally free, or that a friend borrow it to him. But he won't admit it.

Butch DeLoria :

He started with Fo3, entitled to say it is the best.
Then he tried the others and found them enjoyable as well.
In the end, he is just an happy man who want to enjoy himself and not take things seriously.

James/Dad :

A Fo1&2 player that thought he could do a pacifist run into Fo3. He ragequit after cleaning up Jefferson Memorial from super-mutants.

Calvert :

A player that feel he is surrounded by silly npcs but can't take any action agains't them, thanks to their essential status.

Talon Company/East Coast Super-mutant :

FPS player that only care about shooting.

Feral Ghoul Reaver :

A cheating pgm that maxed all his skills, optimized his computer performances and hit critters at random.

Regulators/Daniel Littleton :

Community moderators, that will ban you or delete your post if it doesn't fit to their vision.

Point Lookout Tribals :

Video Games critics. They came, received a dose of drug, were shown shiny pictures, got a piece of brain removed.
???
Positive reviews.

I am still looking for fo3 characters/factions counterparts for Brian Fargo, InXile & the trolls.

*ocd*

There is a mod that really remove Liberty Prime?

I'm not sure if Liberty Prime is a metaphor for "overpowered" content getting removed (destroyed in Broken Steel), or if there is an actual mod.
I think it's the former, LP is plot-essential.

Actually, it is something the Enclave actually did, after the vanilla game, and something modders could have done, as they felt it would be overpowered.

I dunno if modder actually tried to delete Liberty Prime, but you already can do "Take It Back" without help. (at least on my version)

If you agree to do the quest, but leave the labs before some/all member of the Lyons pride, they won't be outside to help you. Only those leaving before you would be outside.

Also, Liberty Prime is scripted to move forward ennemies. If you go ahead of him and clear the ennemies, he won't move because he has nothing to shoot. The problem would be when you want to disable the barriers.

You can also use console commands for other possibilities.

(Using those, i was once able to play without Liberty Prime, the barriers and the vertibirds. But i crashed when i got where the barriers were supposed to be)

Heh. So many truth..

Also, will you do one Soon™ for Fallout New Vegas?

Probably not me. I was trolling, and i still like New Vegas.
Spent so much time in Fo3, in order to complete it and never come back again, that i needed to complain about it, in great lenght.
I hope FOBOS will be much shorter... If not, expect some kind of trolling thread...

Yeah, New Vegas is a lot better than 3. Still playing it, and I started playing it 2 years ago.

Well this was most insightful, i'll probably never look at Fallout 3 the same way ever again.
In fact, I believe this can be tremendously helpful in improving Fallout 3 as a meta narrative experience. Truly, the game makes a lot more sense now as a subconscious limbo exploration game.

How come this thread didn't gain more post and views than the other more critical topics?
