RPGvault interviewed Alexander Filatow (Cheif Programmer) about Metalheart: RR, here's a snibblet:
Jonric: With Akella known for naval games, why did you decide to make an RPG, and what attracted you to make this particular type?

Alexander Filatow: The greatest inspiration for an isometric RPG was Syndicate, which we all loved a lot. Unfortunately, Syndicate 2 had a different atmosphere, but the idea of improving the body with mechanical parts is very attractive. Since then, Deus Ex used it, but it's 3D, which creates a different feeling. All the people on the development team are the big fans of isometric games like Diablo, Fallout and Jagged Alliance, so the way and the direction of development were clear for us.
Also notice the *exclusive* screenshots that IGN got :eyebrow:

I have to admit. This does look like a really cool game. Nice graphics, cool premise, and its a scifi RPG. You don't see too many of those around. I, for one, will check it out when it's released.

I am really getting more and more excited for this game every time I see more about it.

"Exclusive" Weren't those shots posted here a week or so ago.

Syndicate reference, that's what I thought of when I saw the first news about this game.

Bingo!! Those are the exact same screenshots we posted last year, hehe..that sounds sooooo far ago...

I liked Syndicate, so a game similar to that title with a better combat system would definitely be interesting.

This game looks great. Just look at those trees and that screenshot of the bar. It's awesome. It has that retro-look I like (well, I just like 2D games with isometric perspective, that's all). You know what? I have a feeling that this might be the closest thing to Fallout 3 we will ever see...

But let's hope it's not.
