Metroid Prime Trilogy - all 3 games with Wii controls

Bofast

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Metroid Prime Trilogy, releasing almost to the day of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption's two year anniversary, is a jammed to the brim package that combines all of Retro's first-person adventure games for the GameCube and Wii, on a single disc. And the two GameCube games – Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes -- have been reworked with full widescreen, 480p support and feature the same awesome Wii Remote/Nunchuk control that made Metroid Prime 3 Corruption so tight.

Amazon.co.uk seems to have it up for preorder for about £35, not bad for all three Metroid Prime games in one.

I'm probably going to get a Wii for this and Punch Out.

Metroid Prime is one of the few examples of an old 2d game making a successful transition into 3d, without losing the feel of the old game.

Well, at least the first 2 Prime games were...

The thrid one....not so much....

I mean, all three are enjoyable but the third one isn't as good qualitywise as the first one...

I loved the first one to the point that I consider it one of the best games ever made. I just couldn't get into the second one though. I've had it for years and I never even finished it. Yet, everyone seems to consider it as good as the first.

This sounds like an awesome package btw.

In my opinion the first Prime game felt like a translation of Super Metroid to FPA, minus the screw attack.

The second one did the light world/dark world concept from SNES Zelda, thing is, it sometimes felt that it was made of parts left over from the first game with some of the enemies reskinned to be presented as new foes.
It didn't feel as impressive as the first.

I can understand that the third part felt like the odd duck of the series as it became more cinematic 'epic', focusing more on action and a plot that spanned several worlds but I felt it was good final step to finish the Prime series before returning to the roots of exploring abandoned alien worlds on your own.

Dutch Ghost is right. The first Metroid Prime is great because it gets all the Metroid staples of shooting alien creatures and platforming right while making the transition to 3D. AND it has that great feeling of exploring an abandoned alien world all by your lonesome.

I haven't played the third Metroid at all, but if it's really as action-y and "epic" as you say, I should probably steer clear.

Still, have a Wii and will probably pick this up, if only to replay Metroid Prime with Wii controls.

Its really not that bad, or on the level of Halo for example, but the story deals more with an imminent threat situation than something hidden like before.

Do give it a try.

Whatever you do, you might wanna avoid Metroid Prime Hunters for the Nintendo DS....

Why?

Hunters is to Metroid what Fallout POS is to Fallout....

:x

Meh, I guess Hunters has some good multiplayer but if we consider singleplayer then....

The expirence you get from playing Hunters after playing Prime and Super is the same feeling you get from playing POS after Fo1 and Fo2...

Just waring yall...

:salute:
