mods and winxp

cthulhu

First time out of the vault
long tim reader, first time poster;
i have winxp (service pack 2 and fixed autoexec.nt) and fallout 2 1.02d and whenever i try to install a mod the only thing it does is change item names ( mods such as bozar mod, m124 mod etc). It messes up even if i use FAME, anybody have a similar problem or possible solution?

Dotn use FAME, use mod runner.

Most mods will need you to remove the file patch000.DAT (or whatever its called) from the fallout 2 folder. Unless you use modrunner anyway

thanks a lot, will try that
PS: gotta love crusader no remorse/regret; do you know of a way to make them work for winxp

PPS: where do i find mod runner :D, nma doesnt seem to have it...

Unfortunately Crusader needs True DOS to run here are some options on how to get it to run

1) DOS Box emulator, this runs a DOS emulator in Windows that supports Crusader. Unfortunately the Emulation is *very* slow and unless you have a real powerful computer it wont be playable

2) Install MS DOS on an old PC

3) Install MD DOS on you new WinXP PC and configure it for a Duel boot system (WinXP and DOS on the same PC). You might run into problems with new PCI/onboard soundcards trying to configure the IRQ/IO/DMA for DOS games to run.

4) Buy a playstation 1 and a copy of Crusader No Remorse (sorry No Regret is only on the PC)

5) ~In Progress~ Bootable CD with MS DOS and Crusader installed. This is one of my little side projects, The computer will boot off of the CD into MS DOS 7.1 and the copy the Crusader install onto a RAM drive, from there it let the player run Crusader and save the games onto the RAM drive. The Player can run a command from a DOS menu that will export the save game and configuration files from Crusader onto a floppy disk. The saves etc can then be restored to the RAM drive when the CD is next booted from. I migth be able to get USB legacy support running and boot off of a USB memory stick and run Crusader from there, but I'll try the CD version first.

does an atholon 3000+, albeit xp, classify as powerfule enough to run dos :D ; and do you know of a good emulator?
