Monkey Island 2 SE

I'm a bit surprised that Lucas Arts is once more pushing classic adventure games as part of its offering. I hope they won't stop at Monkey Island and will also remake some of their other classics, like Maniac Mansion and DotT. Maybe even develop some new games in that vein, though I suppose that's too much to hope for.

I agree that the art looks better than in the first remake. I might get this one, I think.

Cool, instant buy for me. I loved the first remake and certainly wouldn't mind seeing the fate of Atlantis next :)

My biggest gripe with the remake of the first one (which I plan on buying at some point...) was the change of the art style in the stills to be more cartoony. I know they were trying to make it fit in stylistically with their newer games but still, I liked the old style better. That said, I think the art looked good and I think it looks even better and closer to the original in this remake, which is good. Gonna add this to my "To buy" list.

I won't get excited until they do a remake of Day of the Tentacle.

The new art looks pretty damn good, though.

Eh. Perhaps.
But wouldn't it make more sense to remake Maniac Mansion first?
That one doesn't have any voices, right?

It's a good idea to teach this new generation of "ultra grafix" gamers that games like this are really fun and good classics. I like that LucasArts at least remains true to the remake(except for the cartoony style).

A friend of mine didn't play the original Monkey Island games because they looked awful in a big 24' Widescreen monitor, and this might be the best way to "educate" him.

Agreed. I'd like to see all of their older adventure games remade before the newer ones.

I don't accept that for VGA graphics and better (probably due to how long I've been gaming) but I have problems with EGA games. Had he complained about the interface (moreso with the first game) then I'd be more sympathetic (it was greatly improved in Monkey Isle 2).

EDIT: Yeah, it's too bad he never got to finish his original plans for the trilogy and I can't figure out why not other than Lucas Arts being total dicks.

Considering Lucas art has subsisted off milking Star Wars and Nintendo has gotten away with remakes for a decade, i really don't see the motivation to make anything new =p

Well, he decided to leave the company and found his own studio, for once it's not LucasArts fault; unless he decided to leave because they were total dicks, that is. :P Still, it's a shame. After he left he never did any masterpiece like the time when he was at LucasArts.
