More bunker trouble...

Excalibur Bane

First time out of the vault
Thanks to the fellow who sent me bunker04.mis, I'm having a new problem now. I no longer get an error message when I go to bunker Epsilon of the missing file, however when I go to talk to the General about a new mission, I get the old Ocillea briefing from him, minus the speech of his text. If I talk to him after that, it shows all missions upto Ocillea as finished an no links to any new ones. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a full install, patched to 1.27 with a no CD crack thing applied. I better not have to install this damn 3 CD whore again. It took 3 hours on this crappy old system. :(

P2-400 mhz
128 MB of SDRAM PC100
8 GIG WD HDD
ATI Rage Pro Turbo (8MB of VRAM)

Also, I've done my best to optimize the game but I get that little 5 min freeze on maps when I first encounter an enemy. I guess it's loading all the sprites, etc that it needs because the hard drive goes haywire. Then it unloads it all when I go back to the world map. :(

Definitely, maximize your virtual memory if you have lots of free space on your hard drive. It might not help much but it will help.

Also, I'm not sure if you did the maximum install on the game but if you didn't, now's the time. You also may want to consider restarting the game from the beginning.

It was a full install. All 1.4 gigs of it. I had to clear every other damned game off the drive. It was too slow pulling data from the CD-ROM. I've maxxed out virtual memory.

No ideas how to get around the saved game problem?

Either I find a way to fix it or I uninstall it. My CDs are pretty much finished. Especially CD 2. Drive spins up and down for half an hour with a particularly nastily scratched area. :(

You really ought to consider upgrading your system partly or completely! My P2/400 was retired last year but even it wasn't as pathetic as yours :D

At the very least back up to an earlier save game and start over from there.

I run FOT on a P3 800 MHZ, 512 MB Ram & 64 MB GForce II, and sometimes my computer has a hard time running FOT or the editor... It's a common problem, FOT runs down your memory pretty fast... You can't do nothin but to upgrade your system.

... no... really... this is good... wait...

Hmpf. :silly:

Better even, you may also want to consider playing a different game altogether.

Or upgrade your RAM.
Your RAM and the rest of your computer.

Well, I believe I found the problem. I'm not sure why I'm missing all these files but I seem to be. There was no errors during the installation, yet all these files are missing. Damned thing. :(

Anyway, it appears I am missing mission13.mis - mission 20.mis and I hate to bother you guys again, but could someone email them to me? Probably one or two per email as I don't know my ISP's max email size. Some of the other *.mis files were a good 1.2 megs. It could get large.

I wouldn't normally bug you guys with this but I'm only home on the weekends from the hospital, so I've been itching to play Tactics since last Monday and I only have two days to do so. I want to get it finished. Reinstalling is just too much of a pain in the ass with this slow ass 6 gig HD. Ugh.

Thanks in advance :D

Oh, BTW this is not my rig, it's a friend's place that I'm staying at. My usual rig is much better. Or I believe it is anyway.

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Asus A78NX Deluxe
1 GB of Kingston DDR 333
160 gig Maxtor
Asus v8200 (Geforce 3)

clean up a part of your drive, remove FOT completely, registry enteries and all the remaining FOT files on your HD....

Then copy your FOT cd's to your HD like this

C:\FOTCD\FOT_01 <--- CD1
C:\FOTCD\FOT_02 <--- CD2
C:\FOTCD\FOT_03 <--- CD3

install the game from your HD, remove the CD before you install.

It might be a good idea to download: Fallout Tactics Booster and the Fallout Tactics patches 1.25 & 1.27 (AFTER RUNNING THE BOOSTER)

You can also use the NO CD Crack, which will help you keep your CD'S intact. Swapping the CD's in and out many times might damage them and may cause problems during gameplay... Just a guess but it could be alot of reasons...

Greetz & Good Luck

Actually, that's the problem. CD2 is totally screwed. If I try installing now, I get a file copying error and if I try to move any of the files through Windows to my HD I get an I/O error or Data error from windows when it tries to access the CD.

I've looked for the files everywhere since last night, no luck. Anyone in a generous mood to send them to me? :)

You know how many files there are on 700 MB CD ???

I think the best thing you can do is to buy a new one, order one in the store or buy it on interplay for 15 Bucks.

You missed what I said. All I need are the following files: mission13.mis to mission20.mis :(

The mission files appear to be from 800k to 1.2m each. If someone could help me out here, I would very much appreciate it. By default these files are installed to C:\Program Files\14 Degrees East\Fallout Tactics\core\campaigns\missions\core\

Again, thanks in advance. :)

Ohhhhhhh btw... There are no mission files called:

mission13.mis & mission20.mis... They're not in my directory as well so I think it's another problem...

Ignore my previous post.

EDIT:

// CORE MISSION DEFINITIONS

I don't get why it installed all the rest of the files but not these ones. If I was the paranoid type, I would be inclined to think someone is deliberatly trying to piss me off :D
