More scorched papyrus.

Parannegha

First time out of the vault
Here are three images I made quite a long time ago, when I was still discovering the wasteland. I hope soon enough they can be found in the gallery.

Very nice. The top guy should have a gun or something though. Swords are good weapons, but you should never bring a knife to a gun fight. Thumbnails would be a good idea as well.

Very nicely drawn. I especially like the Super Mutie...

I wonder btw when someone will say that these pics are kinda PoS-ish... no offence ;)

The sword is all wrong, and you could have increased contrast for the mutie pic, like this:

Other than that, it's fine.

The top guy is carrying a sword, because he is from the Enclave sourcebook for the Fallout PnP, namely, sir Henry Dernington. Turns out to be a BoS big shot. Like, who cares, watch the minigun instead :]

Yeah, the top guy is too Fallout: Tictacs, and the sword is way off...
But surprisingly, someone FINALLY managed to draw a super mutant that looked like a real super mutant, and it rocks!

The sword is the BEST thing of all the three pictures.

Those who do not support the previous statement may shut up.

Seriously, have you ever seen "The Six-string Samurai?" This genuine masterpiece of PA? If you have, then you're not authorized to say crap about swords.

Don't expect to have loads ammo after a nuclear war. Every last PA movie has that idea.

Ruski please. This has been discussed before.

Swords? In a PA setting? Crafting a good sword requires a lot of hard-to find equipment, materials and a skilled smith. Furthermore, you need a lot of training to handle a sword properly.

Crafting a spear requires a stick and a sharp, jagged object. For every post-apoc swordsman trained, and equipped, you could arm seventy pikemen.

You should watch more Mad Max, less whateverthing whitetrash ninja.

Bad Ruski! No potato!

The sword is a great weapon to have I was just saying that he needs a backup weapon. What happens when his sword breaks? Is he going to try out his Tai-Kwan-Do ,or is he going to bust out a shotgun and keep on truckin'?

Crafting a good sword... Man, that was difficult to perform in the stone age, but in the 21st century? When hi-quality steel is everywhere around you. Don't make me laugh.

I've got a sword at home which I made myself, btw. It wasn't that complicated a task.

Mad Max is one of my favourite movies, thank you. But the six-string guy rocks as well. Have you seen it Y/N?

That might be quite a nice joke, but unfortunately I don't get it. Could you please be so kind as to explain its sense?

What happens when his sword breaks?

What happens when he runs outta ammo?
When his bayonet breaks?
When he critically misses and knocks himself unconscious?
When... err... a white grand piano falls down on him out of the blue?

How could you possibly predict and avoid such things?
Backup weapon is a good idea, though.

Man, that would be a breathtaking show! A paladin in powerarmor practicing secret martial arts. Close your eyes for a moment and let your imagination work.

Oh, for fuck's sake, go read some of the older threads in Fallout 3 Discussion first, Ruski. I'm serious.

And yes, crafting a decent sword that will be usable is a lot harder than crafting a Spear, axe or hammer. Sheesh.

Plus, six-string samurai didn't really fit the Fallout feel either. Ugh.

Oh, and excellent work on the drawings. I especially like the Super Mutant.

That high quality steel is nearly always too hard or too soft. One way you have a blade that won't hold a good edge, the other you'll have a blade that'll snap. Forging still remains the best way to get a blade with the best characteristics and hardness.

Swords take a massive amount of time and practice to hone your skills to a useful level, chances are your secondaries aren't going to be much up to the task. Also, it's not as simple as finding more ammo, bumming a clip off a buddy, and reloading. The sword breaks, GG, you're fucked. Since you moved in close to use the blade, your chances of retreat are shit. You don't have much, if any, time to find a backup as the enemy is right there in front of you. Have fun pulling a knife on a flamer-armed mutie.

Also, let's not mind the whole fact that a sword would make a horrible primary in a world of guns and powered armor. It wouldn't even scratch modern metal armors and you'd have to get close to use it, have fun rushing the enemy, who was smart enough to bring a gun and is already shooting.

Okay, forging. People have been forging blades for thousands of years. I see absolutely no problem in forging a sword in the PA future.

He's sporting a suit of powerarmor, after all.
And he's a paladin. He could learn a thing or two about swords.
When his M-60 has no more cartridge belts to chew, he won't turn into a helpless kitten.

I never said, "primary".
And if it's powerarmor, then we need to estimate at what distance it could stop bullets. Tin woodsman gets holed through in any case.

As Sandypooh said, read the threads in F3 discussion & ideas, this has been discussed ad nauseam.

As for the potato joke, 's just a joke, don't get your feathers all ruffled up. What do you traditionally make vodka out of?

Hence, no potato.

Rusty Chopper, as I said before, go read those threads! Really, do read those threads. They contain basically every argument you're bringing up and every rebuttal to them. So read them. Like this one here.

Really, go read it before discussing this any further.

Hell, you guys should probably change the name to No Blades Greater Than 6 Inches Allowed, as I see the way you react to the friggin swords. Is anyone of you familiar at all with the Fallout PnP? The man is a fiction character. If you had read the Enclave sourcebook you would know the characteristics of the dude and why he is carrying the goddamned sword. Other than that, the best thing about Fallout and the PA setting is that everything can be made to fit in it. After all it's just a game, for the Master's sake. All who want a post nuclear simulator, keep your distance :!:

Let's all just hope Parannegha is trying to pull some legs too, because I really don't want to see him banned, I've never seen anyone draw better super muties...

What's an "Enclave Sourcebook"?

Also.

Other than that, the best thing about Fallout and the PA setting is that everything can be made to fit in it.

Um, no. You know, all about the retro-future ideals being blown to smithereens, "Science!", bulky technology, a desolate world, economy based on water, and so on.

A middle-aged man in Tictacs 'fallout' armor, with a rose painted on his armor, carrying a broadsword. How fuckin' fallouty.

Initiation ritual to the Brotherhood? Ceremony? "Welcome, o initiate, to the rank of Knights", or is it "Zomg, Oblivion looks so k3wl, let's swordbash marksmen with my sword"?

I'm puzzled.
