Most valuable Hoover Dam ally?

Drake Connally

First time out of the vault
If you could only choose one, which one would you choose? Think from an actual strategic stance, not gameplay wise.

Brotherhood of Steel:
The Brotherhood is packing power armor and laser weapons, but it's troop count isn't the highest.

Enclave Remnants:
While they have the most advanced weapons and armor, they are only a single squad.

Great Khans:
Moderate troop count, good weapons, shoddy armor.

Boomers:
They're packing a Flying Fortress. Not much more to say.

Securitrons:
We'll assume they're upgraded to MK 2, and you only get two, just like in the House/Yes Man endings. Souped up machines of death, they'll tear through enemy troops like crazy, but they can't handle the pressure when ganged up on.

A Tie between the Boomers and the Securitrons for me. The remnants do cause damage, but from a story perspective their influence is only felt in a very small area compared to the Boomers who are bombing stuff in the background.

Limiting the Securitron's numbers takes away much of their viability because they're sheer forward destructive power and numbers were their real strengths. However if they did have their full numbers it'd be easy to pick them. Send them forward with no care. The Boomer's would probably be my first thought as a choice since they are pretty much masters of a distance fight, but they're unwillingness to really leave their fortifications other than with their bomber leaves you shorthanded. The Remnants are mighty powerful as a single unit, great armor, great power, they would surely be able to hold a position on the Dam if that was the task you wanted, but to secure a war they'd be limited in just how much area they could hold.

If you want to make a difference I'd go with either the Khans or the Brotherhood of Steel. The Brotherhood, if you could convince them, have just enough numbers to be of a use and have equipment comparable to the Remnants, minus their vertibirds. The Great Khans on the other hand could be useful as Guerrilla fighters if utilized properly and are probably the largest group on this list so you could use them in a war. Neither the Legion nor the NCR truly have that great of equipment other than in elite units, so hitting them hard isn't so much the want, but rather holding land would be my goal which either of these groups would probably be my picks.

The Brotherhood would be a huge help if they weren't giant pussies in the game.

I don't know dude, I played the NCR quest line version the battle with the BOS alliance and they rock the Legion hard, they even kill the frame rate a bit whenever they are on screen helping the soldiers out.

The BOS are rather isolationists, or "pussies", however I do agree once you get them out of their bunker they do start working again. However they stick to their hoarding of technological ways, really putting them in bad terms with the bigger factions, with the treaty barely changing that. So as a short term asset their power and at least large enough numbers make them useful, as Mr.House believes they really aren't worth it for the long term afterwards anyway.

The Legate's guards have those Zap Gloves I think they are called that fuck up Power Armor.

Only Caesar has those, Legate's guards have Ballistic Fists, that still punch through armor but aren't quite as lethal to Power Armor users as the zap gloves.

Ahh okay. My memory of the vanilla game is lacking.

The Boomers didn't do shit for me unless I missed something. The Great Kahns sent a whole army consisting of... 2 cannon fodder soldiers. I took Hoover Dam solo basically.

By the way, bombing Hoover Dam itself is holy brilliant idea...
Its spectacular but brainless. Boomers should go on main army of NCR/Legion before the damn dam.

It's a tie for the Boomers and Securitrons for me.

Securitrons provide you with an absolutely loyal ground army that kicks ass and helps you reign control of the Vegas area (and the Mojave if you really wanted to.). The Boomers on the other hand can bomb the shit out of the enemy, scare the ever living fuck out of them and act as your axe being held just above the figurative head of the NCR/Legion, ready to drop if they piss you off (Boom goes Shady Sands and whatever the big tribes of the Legion are).

Didn't the Boomers bomb the Fort, and not Hoover Dam?

Boomers/Securitrons.

That B-29 Super Fortress..

Also, if the Boomers found a nuclear bomb, a Fatboy or w/e in a museum, they can just load it and bye bye.

Well we also have to take in account how difficult it is to bring each ally to your side. Both the boomers and the Brotherhood of Steel are some of the most difficult because beside having to not be killed by either of them when you initially meet them, you also have to do several missions for them to gain their trust. The Great Khans aren't to hard to get on your side, however they end up not being in a good position after the war and aren't nearly as strong as the rest of the options. Securitrons have to be the third most difficult because unless you aren't working for Mr. House you have to fight your way to him, kill him, and then insert Yes Man in his place. The Remnants have to be the easiest to get on your side once you learn of their existence and they're some tough sons a bitches with some of the best tech in the whole game.

At the end of the day I say I'd probably go with the Remnants because you have the least loss, least work, and most bang for your buck. That's just my opinion though so do with that what you will.
