Here is a homebrew game I came across while surfing the web. It's still in the early stages, but many levels are complete. It is pretty challenging and pretty damn fun.

Ha. I love seeing Sonic in a Mario level. Wonder if he'll do Mario in a Sonic level too...
 
You can choose between Mario,Luigi,Sonic,Tails,Arthur(Ghouls and Ghost), Link and many more characters.

Yes. You can play as any character in multiple worlds. A few of them are:

Mushroom Kingdom
Real World
Halo Universe
Shoot em up worl (R-Type,Gradius,etc...)
Sonic World

...and many more. There are tons of other videos on the guys site. Check em out man. The Beta is awesome too.
 
I always thought with the easy to find existence of emulators and games that modders would combine game resources to make something entirely different. I had no idea however they would make something like that. It has stuff from more games than I can count and also looks very challenging, because it's all added in a sensible way and not just thrown in.

I think I'll try it.
