Mutants Rising Demo Released

My copy of FO2 is proving pretty elusive :). Will this mod (and indeed any others) work with the GOG.com version that's currently on offer?

Yes, it should work without any problems.

/Edit: Though, maybe the original music could make problems, because if I remember correct, the GOG installer is putting the music folder into the wrong directory. If this is the case, moving the "music" folder into "data/sound/" should fix it.

We use our own music (included in the files) on game maps and in videos, so lack of original music shouldn't be a problem. Unless you're very sensitive about having music in your main menu screen.

I guess I'm at the end of the demo, but I can't finish the "illness" quest, my science skill isn't high enough to check the auto-doc. >_<

First impressions confirmed, anyway. Well built and nicely written, I guess I'll try other builds now. :)

MR has always been meant as a sort of a follow-up to Fallout 2, so the link is hardly a surprise (or is it?).

To me it is. Other than being aware of its existence I admit I never followed the project.

Then I'd say you're right at the beginning :P

[spoiler:2f54be6d51]Try using Science on the autodoc console and Repair on the Autodoc itself. If you fail both tests, new solutions will appear. There isn't a character build that cannot complete this quest - there are at least three different approaches to take here.[/spoiler:2f54be6d51]

You can actually leave Elko in the demo? :o

Not really. The demo ends with a final cinematic and you don't get to see the world map or any other location than Elko.

If you're looking for some more content, play with a dumb character, it's a fairly different game (different quests etc.). Also, try different character builds (combat, stealth, diplomacy) to explore various approaches to quests - there's some extra love given to every type of character. 8-)

Okay I did it right this time but when I try to launch it from the Mutants Rising folder it says:

Couldn't find/load text fonts

[edit]

Actaully nevermind, I fixed it.

I'm having the same problem with the Installer, how'd you fix it?

If you were using the installer, then it is most likely that you didn't point it to your Fallout 2 installation directory, or in other words - the directory where master.dat and critter.dat files are located.

Are you using a different language version than English perchance?

So, uh, no matter how many times I point the installer to the Fallout 2 installation directory it just skips installing all the important files for reasons I can't understand. Furthermore, I just can't seem to uninstall it, to try and see if it would be fixed that way. Any advice, or should I just go with the manual installation?

EDIT: Snap, I managed to make it work, I just had to execute it as administrator.

Two things:

-the text in the final cutscene is heavily out of sync for me
-first time I talked with Jordan for the "main" quest the door locked behind me and I got stuck

Thanks. There will be a patch this week correcting all the bugs reported by the community. Keep your eyes peeled :)

Thanks g.

It's brilliant! Best FO2 mod i ever played. Fits Fallout universe perfectly. Dialogs and characters are amazing. Good luck with finishing your job.

EDIT: How did you manage to make this (V) window wider than original?

It's done with the HighRes patch, to fill out the interface screen more in higher resolutions.

It is marvelous. So much fallout vibe in this demo.I'm looking forward with impatience for the full game.
Great job guys :)

@bbmultipass, Bengt & diggernator: Thanks for playing! :)

@all: The patch 1.01, correcting all reported errors is up. Just download it and unpack into your MutantsRising folder. You will be prompted to override some files and you should agree. The patch will probably break your save games, but you have to start a new game for the changes to work anyway.

Have fun.

thankyou so much for this, sounds awesome! I can't wait for the full release. I will tell all my friends about it.
