I've been trying to beat the game with no stealing, no meta-gaming, no save/load cheapness.

    Here's my build:
    ---
    ST: 4
    PE; 8
    EN: 9
    CH: 7
    IN: 8
    AG: 9
    LK: 2

    Traits:

    Fast Shot and Gifted

    Tagged:

    Small Guns, Speech, Lock-picking
    ---

I'll let you all know my progress/problems. (Playing with latest patch from Killap, too.)

This probably ought to go in the "gameplay and tech" forum, as it is a gameplay-related topic and not a "Fallout universe" topic. Maybe that's incorrect, though.

    How about a challenge - :P

    ST - 2
    PE - 2
    EN - 9
    CH - 10
    IN - 2
    AG - 5
    LK - 10

    Traits - Jinxed - Kamikaze

    Skills - Throwing - Sneak - Traps

    ...............

Your extra lucky, but Jinxed, very sneaky, and beautiful ...quite stupid though, and weak, very weak. Shit just run from every encounter, and let the NPC do the dirty work. It should be a interesting game.

You don't need high endurance, the only significant thing it does is provide you with HP. For most of F1+2, HP shouldn't be a massive issue if you have up to date armor - DT and DR are generally more significant. Fallout just doesn't have a huge amount of nasty opponents, whilst in F2 I never found survivability to be a biggy once I'd got the prizefighter bonuses + combat armor/bridgekeeper robes. There are still some nasty bits in F2, notably the outside of Navarro - Tesla armour (available from San Fran) is the way to go here, eclipsing all but Advanced Power Armour MKII. The Lifegiver perk is a much better HP source anyway.

Parts of the game early on can be tough, but this isn't entirely remedied by good endurance and the particularly tricky bits (e.g. taking on The Den Slavers with a low level character) can be eased by taking psycho before battle.

    It's not quite right.
A decent Endurance (along with Luck) is necessary for any melee fighter, due to a Toughness perk. Take two of them and you are fine.

Steal their ammo, lock the doors - and snipe the slavers...a level one or 2 hero can win the battle with Sulik, just make sure the crazy tribal has a SMG and plenty of ammo. Clean the street slavers first, then the inner room, and finally the back room. It's a fun challenge early in the game.
