Honestly, id just like this franchise to die. Not entirely, though. This is a franchise that I fell in love with as a universe first. I later began to appreciate all the roleplaying and choice blah blah blah... I began to appreciate all that later. But as it stand the games don't offer any of what makes fallout awesome. The role-playing and choice are all gone. And the universe is a shadow of its formers self. This is why I'd much rather they stop making games and let this universe live on through comics. We could get more fallout from better writers on a monthly basis rather than this huge disappointment every four years. A comic focused franchise also allows for more creative freedom and will be able to explore more of the universe more in depth and more quickly. It would also allow the franchise to span more genres and expirement with tone through different series. Honestly, this is the only way to go imo.

Why would you want it to die entirely? Does the comic idea not sound good to you?

Emil and his buddies made at least two comic book short series in the Fallout universe...
I am sure there are many better fanfics...

You probably already know my stance on this. I still like the games though I'd love a long running comic series written by an awesome writer. In a perfect world the comics would have awesome in depth stories and the games would draw inspiration from them and vise versa making the franchise as a whole better.

Like I said though that's in a perfect world. Realistically I'd still be ok with a few comics and the games though because I enjoy the games. Yes even Fallout 4.

It doesn't sound good because it is still a Bethesda IP, so it has to be approved by Emil and Todd, since Emil is a "writer" and creative producer or whatever, he would probably be writing the comics too or at least editing stuff in them, because ego.
Do you think something written like a Kid in the fridge would be better in comic version? Or the Cabot House? Or whatever else Emil writes?

I want it dead because whatever Bethesda do with it it will always be shit because they already prove they don't care, they don't know Fallout and they only go for "cool" stuff. With each new Fallout product from Bethesda it dilutes more what Fallout is. I don't have much faith that they would all of a sudden start caring and make a quality, lore friendly and interesting comic.

I'd rather Bethesda get their head out of their ass and publish a cRPG that does its own thing and doesn't follow the Bethesda lore.

The people who just want "a fun game" will still get their first person shooters but the ones who actually like Fallout for its RPG mechanics, writing and lore would have their own series to follow. It'd basically give us 2 different canons. The proper canon and the kid in a fridge canon.

There is a clear divide between the fans and it's not like it'd be difficult to support both of them. It's not like a cRPG has have a budget of 5040 million dollaronies, hell, considering how much money they make from their triple-a titles it would be chump change for Bethesda.

So why not support both? Bethesda can keep their dumb writing and not give 2 shits about consistency or coherency for that matter and their fans will jump in joy for another shooting sandboxer and those who cares for what Fallout actually is will get their own games that ignores whatever Bethesda does completely.

Again, let's just take a look at the budget and profit of Skyrim (back in 2011, discounting re-release bullshit):

    Budget: 85 million.
    Profit: 1390 million.

They earned 16 times as much profit as the amount of budget they put into the game.

And they can't throw 5 million at a smaller studio competent at making cRPG's? They aren't opposed broadening the appeal as seen with the Elder Scrolls MMO, the Fallout mobile phone game as well as all of the merchandise shit they're shilling. So here is a clear demand for something and they are completely unwilling to provide it even when it'd be chump change on their part?

    Incompetent buffoons.

Hm. I don't particularly care about comics, although All Roads had a nice feel to it. I guess if one were to find some good writers and artists it would be a nice addition. Hey, don't we have some talented artists and writers in this community? How about we do an NMA comic?
But I wouldn't want to lose the games. If we don't get computer games anymore I wouldn't cry too many tears, but as a general roleplaying setting (PnP and miniatures) Fallout is just too rich to let it die. (Graphic) novels just don't cut it in my opinion.
Similar to Warhammer 40k, while many people only care about the novels and the memes, its core is still the tabletop, and you can't just drop it.
I wouldn't mind Fallout to expand a little more into other media, like (graphic) novels, but I also want it to remain a gaming setting. A properly done PnP and maybe a good tabletop miniature game.

Also, your poll choices are all grammatically retarded, no clue what any of them really mean. You're terrible and you should feel terrible.

I'd rather let it "die", as in if from now on we can never have a 'spin-off' made by Obsidian or any developers but Bethesda, then let the Bethestards enjoy their settlement building, Presto Gravy memes, and War, War Never Changes™. Meanwhile, we can just enjoy the TC mods. If things are going relatively smoothly, we can enjoy the English version of Fallout of Nevada this year, the TC mods that some of the Codexers admitted to have been much, much better than Fallout 1.5: Resurrection, which by itself is on par with Fallout 2, if not even better.

Same. And no, I don't care for comicbooks either. It should just... die. The setting doesn't lend itself well for the TES style each-game-the-same-game exploitation, Bethesda can not do anything fresh with it anymore.

So when do you guys think the games started to suck. We all know Fallout 4 was a major step in the wrong direction. New Vegas wasn't that bad IMO in fact I think it's the best Fallout fps. 3 was good in its own way though it wasn't as good as it could have been.

When do you guys think it started going downhill? I really think 4 was when it took a nose dive so that's honestly why I don't want it to die since IMO the one black sheep shouldn't kill the herd.

I'd love to see a satirical Fallout comic ripping into Bethesda's shitty writing. Sure I'd like actual content that contributes towards the Fallout name, but at this point I just want Bethesda to crash and burn- they haven't learnt anything, Fallout 4 sold well and there's not much chance of a better studio taking the ip.
maybe a r34 comic, love me some dugmeet

Honestly, I kind of wished Bethesda just did their games without the Fallout name.

Playing F4 again has made me realise I enjoy the parts that aren't directed to the main story. In that regard, I enjoy half the game.

But the other half is really awful, and these are the parts that tend to shoehorn as much of Fallout as possible.

I actually kind of like the settlement stuff, I know we shat on the workshop dlc (myself included) but if these were free updates, I would have argued they were good updates to have.
Add in a mod that allows unlimited items to be placed and you have a pretty solid side game.

If more of the game focused on that, being a game about rebuilding and set it a few years after the war, I would have argued that it would have followed the spirit of the series at least.

Then you go from a local small timer who has to make deals with other settlements until you have a booming economy and set laws that could make you liberal as hell or a dictator.

The games are fine as games, pretty average and dumb fun, but it's the Fallout in them that needs to be taken out.

As it stands, I want the fallout name to end, or be given to someone who will actually do something with it, and then I would want Bethesda to just make their own dumb shooter.

That would be a perfect world, sadly we live in a world where Trump is electable and Putin is considered to be the best leader in History, so maybe we're just retarded.

When the shadow of Interplay (change of leadership, goal and admin board) cancelled Van Buren, released Fo:Bos for consoles, and sold the IP to the highest bidder.

Fo 2 and FoT have their issues, but they are faithfull to the IP spirit. Can't say the same about FoBos, Fo3, Fo4 and Fallout:Shelter. FoNV was a lucky accident, but doesn't change the trend of the branded Fo games decline. On the other hand, the modding community still deliver some gems, for Fo1-Fo2-FoT but also for the more recent games. (although, i am not sure i will accept to endure the gamebryo enough to actually try them)

I would say that New Vegas is a lucky accident with a game with mainstream appeal while retaining a good chunk of the series depth and even improving in some areas. Didn't play The Witcher 3 yet (my computer is not able to run it), but i guess i goes the same league. Same for Cyberpunk 2077.

Although, i am not necessary wishing for any IP to necessary get the maximum mainstream appeal. There are games-movies-books-etc that just aren't meant to cater every single kind of players-audiences. The point in having choice is that you might look for something different than your buddy and that you won't both buy the same kind of game. That doesn't bode well with AAA company that mostly care about huge amount of units sold. When all games end clones, if you don't like the clone DNA, you are pretty much screwed. (fortunately, there is an active indie market, thanks to crowdfunding and online game stores)

It's a total conversion mod for Fallout 2. In other words, you can call it an (unofficial) expansion pack/story DLC but made by modders. It's a Russian mod, but is currently undergoing a translation progress (nearing 90% now, but is halted for now). If you're still confused, just google it.
