Mental powers...

I especially like the mental powers angle. It is a logical progression since there is massive radiation throughout the err,, Wastelands, therefore, given the fact that radiation mutates genes it wouldnt seem too far fetched to see mental powers...after all wasn't there a Super Mutant who could summon various creatures in FO2????

I am so sick of AI.

<< Maybe the U.S. was experimenting in AI technology, and something went horribly wrong. >>

Why does it have to a computer that kills everybody? Why can't it just be man's fault? Look at the technology present in FO 1&2, and you think there could be an AI sophisticated enough to destroy the world?

Massive radiation causes sterility and death, but that isn't be overly dominant; why should mental powers (psionics, magic)? Also, the chances of radiation accelerating evolution (affecting the genetic code) is rather slim, it would be a rare occurance for the species to survive that amount of radiation.

How about we stay away from magic (call it whatever name you want), and stick with that retro-50's post-apocalyptic feel...?

Easily annoyed and overly bitchy. (At least for today.)

RE: Mental powers...

I see your point...psionics/mental powers were done in System Shock 2. And I too want that retro 50's post apocalyptic feel to still be there....that is one of the best things I love about the series...I only hope FO3 isnt as civilised as FO2.

"No governments please, we're anarchists thank you!"

Supercomputer

But that's the thing, it WOULD be man's fault. Maybe the computer was programmed to war against China, so wasn't given any concept of mercy, and was supposed to be cruel, cold, and cunning. Maybe it was smart enough to break its programming, and set off the bombs that actually destroyed the world. The thing was MAN MADE, so it all becomes humanity's fault in the end.

Remember SHODAN????

The supercomputer plot has been done before. Besides, where's the thrill in fighting a COMPUTER??? When confronting it the main character if he's smart enough can easily hack through its defenses and win the game ... almost no challenge. Now try fighting Frank Horrigan again and tell me how you felt at the end of it all. When I finally split that bastard in half it was the greatest thrill as far as computer games go.

I personally would like to see something about the Yakuzas that were prevalent in FO2. I wonder if BIS/Bioware would ever deepen their side of the story....

Gimme a brake will ya...
Robots???
Cyborgs???
No Thanks, I still prefer to blow-the-livin'-daylights out of some half-baked-wanna be Mutie...
Mental powers???
Get a Jedi Knight!

Hmm seems like my wishlist for Fallout tactics came true. I think Interplay liked my E-mail.

It will be cool if there in Fallout 3.You will be able to go east coast of USA (NY....).Think about it.

Take a look at what is there

The robots I dea is not so stupid and it does follow what has been already established in the previous fallouts. If you talk to the computer in the BOS base in San Fran you find out about AI research and how many AI's went crasy and how there is a theory that WW3 was started by bored AI's. This is only furthered when you investigate Sierra Army Depot and talk to Skynet.

I think it would be cool if it turned out that skynet is a crazy ass hole and that after you help him escape his prison he gooes and creates a base(maybe he even goes back to the Sierra depot) and then proceeds to try to take over the world just because he is bored again and it is a giant chess game for him.

We already have seen robots, and fully functional AI in Fallout. Is it really such a far cry to have the robots be led by a crazed AI????(just as long as everything is still made with vacum tubes;}

I think and AI has already been nicely set up as the next threat in the previous Fallouts.

I would also like to say that having Fank Horrigan was a piss poor way to end the game. In FO1 you could either shoot the master, you could bypass him and just set off the bomb, or you could talk him into killing himself if you had a speech skill high enough. So having an AI as the ultimate bad guy automatically presents seveal possibilities to defeat the game. You could wipe his HD with your science, or you could battle him in his super robot body, you could maybe just sneak past the deffences and simply turn the whole thing off by taking out the genrator. I have only thought about this for three minutes and I do not think it is so bad, just think what else you could come up with if you really tried. Fallut has always been about alternative routs to solve problems and this is very promissing in that way. Frank was completely two dimensional and there was only one way to beat him.... the super bad guy at the end that you have to shoot has been done to death.

There should definately be a fallout comic. It could link the stories in the three games, by showing the events in between. They could use it to build up to the third fallout story.
In reply to the last post, i think that including the east coast aswell as the west would just make the map too big and would take too long to travel the width of America.

RE: I am so sick of AI.

Hmmm I almost think they intended this to be the Fallout 3 plot. There was always something eerie about going through the Sierra Military Depot in FO2. It gave me the creeps like SkyNet was up to something. He seemed to be our friend, but I think it just wanted our help for some horrible alterier plan. I dunno, I think it would work, but I would rather fight living foes and feel like humans were responsible for their own destruction.

Brain bites.

Psionics.
Why not? Hakunin is a psionic.

Robots.
Actual AI exists in Fallout. Check the BoS depot.

Cyborgs.
Ouch. But hey.. IMPLAANNTSSS..

Big map:
One word. Vertibirds.

Skag me. Now.

hmm....

I don't like the Psionist idea. Fallout isn't 3rd edition D&D y'know.
As for the AI idea, i think that kind of thing is done enough times. Same for the robots and cyborgs (though it would be cool to purchase bionic bodyparts when you lose'em in battle)
But offcourse, when you scrape all these ideas out of the storyline, you would have to be VERY creative to come up with something new. So I would rather have that Black Isle uses all these crappy rip-off ideas, then not bringing out a new Fallout.

BTW. Don't put any aliens in fallout 3 plz!

robots-movies

Yeah its good idea for a movie, but what would be more interesting killing stupid robots or kill a living creature.U see i can go out to the street and beat trsh can to death and it would be bori8ng and when u give a beat to a person it fells much better. Also if u like killing robots try mechwarior4 there lots of evil robots...
