My PC

Yep, tough luck to say the least. Moving from one host because of server problems just to get new problems at the new host.

My comp is:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
GeForce 4 Ti4200
512 DDR RAM

Nothing real great, but it gets me by, no problem. Been havin' some problems lately related to a virus though, ah well.

If I only had some money, I would have an Uber gaming machine like you guys. XBOX is faster than my computer. LOL!

a good cheap gaming machine these days would be:

Athlon XP 1700+ Tbread B
NForce 2 mobo or maybe Abit KX333, at the lame cost of 55e
512mb DDR 333, you can overclock CPU really nice with this combo.

nV Geforce 4 ti4200 @ 85e, new MSI costs 95e, you can find a used one @ 70e

SB live 5.1 @ 30e if no sound is available (Soundstorm on nForce 2 is a great integrated solution)

any 7200rpm hard drive, monitor at your own chioce... and voila, you have a great machine at low costs

And here's my candidate for a cool gaming machine.

Intel P4 2.4 GHz 800 MHz FSB - 240 €

Cooler for socket 478 - 6.6 €

MBO MSI 865PE Neo-L with integrated 5.1 sound, 800 MHz BUS, AGP 8x, USB 2.0, DDR400, LAN - 137 €

512 MB DDR RAM 400 - 117 €

Gainward Ultra/750-8x XP GS (GeForce 4 Ti4800SE, 128 DDR, VIVO, DVI, AGP 8x - a mega-cool board) - 185 €

HDD Hitachi 120 GB, UDMA 100, 7.200 rpm, 8 MB cache - 143 €

LG-4480b CD RW / DVD ROM, 16x/48x/24x/48x - 74 €

Creative Labs Live! Player 5.1 - 39 €

Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers - 100 €

Monitor 19" LG 900B - 264 €

TOTAL: 1305 €

Not the cheapest rig in the block, but very fast. It should endure at least another few months or so... :) Dammit, it's faster than my setup!

fuckin 21'' lcd?! god, I almost got a heart attack! :)

anyway, ALtec Lansing 621 is a better choice than creative 5300... 621 is a 5.1 system, right? I have 321 and they're fuckin fantastic!

Good topic. This will be revived by n00bs like me constantly. (Holds hands up in the air like some prophet) I call on this thread to LIVE once more!!!

JESUS! What'd that cost ya, $1,700 ?!
Oh and my machines:
PC #1, the one I use:
Celeron 1.8 Ghz
P4VXMS: 400Mhz FSB+ AGP4x
Geforce 2 ULTRA 64Mb. (AGP 4x, perfoms better than most GF3s)
60GB,7200,8Mb, ATA/133
DVD-ROM 16x/CD-ROM 52x
PC #2 (What my little bro uses)
PIII 800/133 FSB
512 Mb PC133
SE440BX2, AGP 1x, 133 FSB
20GB 5400RPM 2Mb ATA/33
ATI Rage 32Mb AGP/1x
40x CD-ROM
16/4/32x CD-RW

HAHA...

umm ok so here we go:

P4 2.4Ghz 533
2 gigs of ram
Sapphire fanless Radeon 9700pro
DVD player/CDRW
about 100 gigs worth of storage space
And Sony 21" CRT monitor... NICE, I can't believe I could live without it.

I usually work on this PC, but I do play a lot of games too, work is 3d modeling animation, and some 2d stuff, so its nice to have a big screen and 2 gigs of ram helps too. Umm what can I say... all I wish for is a water cooling kit, because this CPU fan is killing me... I'm sorta used to it now, but still would like this thing to be a little quieter. Umm and yeah thats about it, this is my PC, I really wanted to put one like this together for a long time and now I have :D

oh yeah the case is an aluminum black box with a white prodigy ant logo on the side. :D the monitor is also black.

Yesterday my PII-300 got fucked up by a virus that disable my anti-virus, it seems that my wife disable the firewall because she tought it made the pc slower and she didn't want to wait.
So now the HD that was in that pc is not responding at all (not even powering up). I have to re-install everythning, meanwhile o'm stuck with a P90 and my office pc which sucks, and is about to die anyway.
